New Wing lotsa pics :)
Since first getting my car I've been trying to decide how to make the trunk look better. I'm not a fan of most of the available wings, so I went wingless for a while. Although I did like the wingless trunk a lot, I decided to take the plunge and make something better.
It may not hold up in the rain, time will tell. Try to picture it painted to match before you think you don't like it.
Sweet eh! Then I thought hmmmmm... I could do better, and moved on to phase 2.
Looking at the RK Sport wing and the tJin wing helped, but a big thanks to Gestapo007 because watching his paint job thread progress spurred me on.
Starting with the same awesome cardboard material as a template, I then made one out of hardboard and then finally out of steel.
Getting the angle where I wanted and tacking it on came next along with shaving the key and the old spoiler holes.
After finishing the rest of the welds, the steel was then wrapped in fiberglass.
Then the mud work began.
Next up primer.
And a trial fit before it went in for paint.
Finally the finished product.
I'm going to have to get a better spot to take pictures or learn how to take them properly because this side shot looks great in person, but you can hardly even see anything in the picture.
Again, thanks to Gestapo007 for giving me the ambition I needed to get this done.

Thanks guys.
I tied the angle into the rear quarter. It splits the difference between the body line on the top of the fender and the line where the rear bumper joins. I made a lot of templates with different angles and went with the one I liked the best.
In my opinion it did not flow with the rest of the rear when it was angled higher or lower. taking into account views from directly beside and at a 3/4 angle from the front. From the rear was not really a factor, it would be what it was from there.
..... That's the process I went through to find the angle I liked.
It's 1/8" steel, welded to the strongest part of the trunk lid. It's very sturdy. It's been to 140 km/h with no ill effects. I can't see this car ever going much faster then that. It barely gets over 100 on the track.

Definitely no hate from me. If you ever feel like making another trunk just like that, my G5 would love to have it.

Thanks guys.
No problem, the pics really don't do the wing justice. Maybe it is the angle they where taken at. When you look at it bang on from the side it flows nicely with the cars lines and when you look at it from a 3/4 view from the front it nicely blends with the curve of the fender..... at least in my opinion anyways !!
I can't see a second one in my future. Lots of work getting it just the way I wanted and then cutting / grinding the steel to fit tight to the trunk lid. Big props gotta go out to the guys who did the finishing body work as well. Once I had made the wing and then set it all up so it could be easily welded exactly where I wanted, they took over and finished it just like I wanted it !

Totally makes sense. After I posted that, I did notice it was centered between the lid and the rear. Also noticed the flow of the lines on the sides how they curve up on top of the trunk lid and the spoiler follows that line (maybe just the angle of the pics) but that is nice as well.
