man these shrouds are a bit of a pain to fit into the housings with 3" FXR's. They look SOO good though! (note: still have to paint housings black).

^go buy some 8/32" x 2.5" bolts with proper hardware and do like my following picture shows. Cut off the extra thread afterwords (not pictured). I agree that epoxy is some ghetto **** for attaching projectors (I will however be using it to seal the holes/gaps up with). I'll be running halo's in mine as well, but I havent got to putting them in yet. I have some aiming to check first

When we did mine, we
had to trim about about 1/4" off the back of the headlight bezel itself, aswell as 1/2" off the shroud in order to get them to clear the headlights and maintain adjustability.

On a side note, I'm already saving up to do another set with rx330s, converted to bixenon w/ custom shield, 55 d2s ballasts, and 5000k koito d2s bulbs. Should be fun, don't think I'm gunna go all crazy with the accesories though (ccfl halos), probably just paint the shields and call it a day lol.

I always take like a stranded 16 gauge wire apart and use the copper strands (looped around something like a twist tie) to hold the halos in from the back. there are two unused screw holes in the clear portion of the shroud that I'll use this idea on for this set

thats a good question. its one of those "You'll find out when you do it" type things..

as of right now my setup for aiming is tossing them on the car and going to town.. its long and tedious but as of right now its all I got going for me until I make up a test bench in the garage when I move to my new place in june

no problem

seriously though, its hard giving advice like that. I didnt know how much I was going to have to trim off the housings to fit the FXR's until I just went to town and started getting crazy with the dremel. its just the name of the game when it comes to mounting anything other than the MH1's. I would imagine it wouldnt be much more (if any more) trimming than the FXR to fit the EVO-XR's but thats just a complete guess

and this ladies and gentlemen is why this thread exists.. look at the light output and beam from left (3" 50w 5000k FXR) to right (stock OEM trash). :

i think both look good. but it really depends on the car color and like you said the theme they have going on. cf, blue, and chrome kind of clashes. with the black it all flows. but without the cf i bet the chrome lights would look great too.

i have oem chrome retros on my car, all black. and i love it cause it's oem appearing, but a retrofit. just one of those things that people wonder "does that come stock?". however. i love black on black as well.

What's a good projector for someone that's never done a retrofit before, something easier? I have heard mini h1, do those have good output? Thanks for any advice, I'm a noob at this.

considering probably 95% of the retrofits on here are done with Mini H1's its probably safe to say that the easiest projector you can use is by far the Mini H1 as far as installation is concerned. light output is much better than stock halogen no doubt. are there better projector options for output? yes, but they take A LOT more work to install. MH1 is a very good projector for your time/money/skill level

So I have one retro done and the other one is almost done... see "jonathan is a dick" thread. And I have ran into a problem because my car has no power... what can I connect to 12Volts so the projector will come on, I can aim it and seal the headlight? If anyone could tell me what pins to connect that would be

^just use the test lead that TRS supplied you to run your ballast.. then its just as simple as connecting that to a battery or whatever you have available

Oh ok, thanks. Right now I have gen 4 projectors with whatever HIDs they came with from ebay, so most likely crap. Would I notice a big difference between those and mini H1s? Also the headlights got scratched pretty badly so I have been looking to do a retrofit with my stock headlights.
