I just can't bring myself to put steelies on this car. I think when the weather gets bad I will just use my beater and park the SS. We only get a half dozen measurable snowfalls here anyway.

I wanted a bra for the winter months up here in New Hampshire, but I've had the same experiences you guys talked about with moisture and rubbing the paint. I came across a black spray-on car bra in Griots Garage. I installed it a week ago, and it is THE ****! go to Griot's and check it out. If anyone wants me to take a pic, let me know and I'll post one later today.

Here you go. I can't say enough about this product. If you decide to buy it, I highly recommend the additional role of masking tape. Here is the info:

$19.99 Part# 20264 Spray-On Protection Bra
$9.99 Part# 20271 76' Roll Of Paint Masking Film

From the website:
"A SPRAY-ON PROTECTION BRA THAT WON'T FLY OFF, AND IS EASY TO REMOVE!
When I first tested this product, I was skeptical. By now you know that I'm VERY finicky about my paint. So spraying a protective coating on the front of a Porsche would be silly, right? And when I was done with my road trip, having it peel up in one big sheet would be too easy to remove, right? Hard to believe, but that's exactly what it did with minimal fuss. I even applied the Protective Bra over the hood ornament! Finally an easy way to protect any surface from rock chips, abrasion, sand pitting, bug residue, etc. Other uses would include: inside an aluminum boat for a non-slip surface, aluminum stair treads, tool boxes, instant drawer liner, truck bed liners, car door thresholds (where your shoes scuff the paint), and on the back of hatches and trunks so you don't scratch the bumper or trunk lip. Water, oil, solvent and impact resistant.
The Paint Masking Film is necessary for this project; buy it and you'll have a number of other uses as well. Paint detailing and machine polishing, house painting, covering furniture from dust, even use it as a temporary indoor car cover! The roll folds out to 22" wide and 76' long! Clings to the surface electrostatically and won't slide off."

Yeah, either Kal Tire doesn't know about the special bolt pattern (for the SC), or your hub/bolt pattern is different from mine. The only available (edit: steel) rims are from GM directly - had this confirmed many times. Better get Kal Tire to test fit them first. You will probably end up buying from a dealership in the end like I did.

Nah you can get the same bolt pattern steelies fron Canadian tire, there $99 bucks a pop and there in stock in their werehouse, I have called every tire shop in the city and no one has them in stock, and they say "your looking at 2 to 3 weeks", WTF!! frankley I can really give a rats A-- weither or not I have OEM wheels or crappy tire wheels! as long as it works i'm happy!

Okay.. Those of you who are wondering about the 3m stuff by GM (they don't use 3m, it's something similar however!) They guarantee the product, which is nice, they also put it on the back of your side view mirrors. It is almost invisible you honestly can't see very much of it if any of it depending on the lighting and how dirty your car is! It is honestly awesome for someone who does a lot of highway driving or who encounters a lot of rock chips! It doesn't stop your paint from fading and it is COMPLETELY reversible!!
Anyways here are the best pics I have of it at the moment (I can't find any head on hood shots at the moment, I would go take some right now but it's snowing and dark out so these will have to do) .... In the first pic, if you look directly on the hood above the top left corner of my headlight you see a faint line, that's where it ends, you BARELY see it. The second picture is a different angle with different lighting, you dont' even see it.

Yeah. So I removed my GM bra today because I've heard enough horror stories. Sure enough, after only a month, there was sand caught under it that was getting ready to cause me nightmares! lol. Anyway, I went to Orion Chev where I got the car, and chatted at length about the "clear hood cover film". They had "never heard of it before at all". They told me to call the GM customer service line to see if they heard of it. I called, and they said that they think it's made by 3M but have no idea about what it is or how much it is, and told me to talk to the parts dept at my local dealership. Let the circles begin.

So, I really need the part number for the clear film covering. Without it, the ******** in parts won't even look on the computer for me. He seemed too busy hiding out of view to be concerned about doing "research", or "work", or "breathing" - any of those difficult tasks.

(That's my only sore spot about Orion Chev in Wpg. There is ONE parts guy with a shitty attitude - everyone else there is awesome..........)
