SS front end on a LS/base

I will be wanting to install an intercooler ducted front end on my LS after my turbo is installed. I know there will be a number of such front ends coming out as time goes by. However, for right now, I'm curious about putting on a factory SS front facia.

My question is, can I simply order the facia and swap it directly on to my LS, or do I need additional SS specific parts, like:
absorber
bumper
grill
brackets/mounts
etc...

Any specifics would be very helpful, thanks.

no nothing eles is needed but you may wish to put on small pads as to not cause damage to your bumber. and you should be able to order the part form your dealer just ask if they will order the part as if you had damaged yours

Yes, please. That would be a perfect example of what I'm looking to do. Try to get a parts list from your body shop if they had to get more then just the fascia.

well i know the base coupe w/ no holes for the fog lamps and the ones for the ls w/ the fog lamp spots are both $224. But im not sure how much the SS front bumper is. Ill call tomorrow to find out and also to see if i got it. Our plan was to order it and see if it fits then keep it and if it didnt fit that he would return it and get the regular one for the base model like mine. So lets hope i got it. Ill let you know by friday night 7/22/05.

alright... i just got back from my auto body shop and yes i do have the SS front bumper and its gonna look sweet. and for those who are interested it is the same price as the other 2 bumpers at $242 ( Ls. base) but the valences (how ever they are spelled) cost about 50-60 bucks more)i recomend those since they have wholes in the bottom of the original bumper that would show if you were not to get the valences to fill them up and make it have the lower look.

I should have it by friday so what do people here recomend for fog lamps since i need to fill those gaps? and also do you think i should go w/ the grille from mr. grilles or keep it w/ the whole in it? help me out here w/ some suggustions. thanks

Wow. .hold Up. Auto Body Shop Called Me Today And Got The Bill. The Front Bumper Is 150 More Then The Regular Ones So It Would Be 242+150 For The Bumper Then Plus 30 Dollars For The Two Valences In Front.

It might be a little expensive but compared to third party body kits it will fit the car extremely well and all the lines should match up since it was GM designed. Do you have any plans to add the ground effects and rear valance as well or are you keeping that stock? Reason I ask is the extended SS bumper on the LS might look funny without the rest of the package because the car will be off balance especially when looking at it from the side . Problem is, I'm assuming that's in USD which would mean it would cost quite a bit more in CAD and I'm not sure if this type of enhancement to my LS would really be worth nearly $1000 if not more if my approximation is right. One thing I need to figure out is if I can use this card specific to my dealership to get 10% off the purchase price of the kit or if it doesn't fall under their "Parts Accessories" category...that would most likely save me enough to pay for install and paint .

Another thing I've wondered is how my LS (with fog lights) would look if I were to add the SS valances to the rear and front as well as the ground effects. Not even sure if they would bolt-on correctly and match up with the existing lines but I can't see this being a problem since it's the same frame. I'm worried that the 16" tires may not fit with it correctly, or the black that surrounds my fog lights and covers the hole in the bumper might break it up too much and it would almost look like it's hanging there. Man I wish I knew how to use photoshop . Any opinions on this?

Not to bring up neons but i did see an sxt i think it was w/ a front body kit on it and no sides and it looked pretty damn good and not very noticalbe that it wasnt the same depth all the way around. I actully had to look purposly to tell if it had side skirts on it or not. But i also do plan on getting the effects all the way around depending on how goofy if at all this looks. And with the front valances on your LS im not sure cuz when i was at the body shop looking at the SS bumper it had slots on the bottom of it to fit the Valances into it. And they werent small ones. they were rather large and very noticalbe ( thats why i wanted to get the valences aswell). but i should get my car tom. so ill take some pics. ill have the fog lamps on next week after i pick some out. any suggustions on the lamps?

I was afraid of something like that being the case as soon as I read your original post about the slots on the bottom. I was kinda hoping I could just bolt them on so I wouldn't have to do the whole front bumper thing because I like the one on my LS now and it woulda made it just slightly different appearance wise (besides the rims, spoiler and tires) from the SS. I'm wondering if this would also be the case with the rear bumper then...guess I could look into that as well.

This may seem bizarre but why not look into the foglights GM puts on the LS and SS/SC just to price them out. I have no complaints at all about the ones on my LS they are more than bright enough and light up a huge radius.

I was thinking that but i figured the prices would be outragoues like they usually are w/ the dealership. But ill give them a try any who.

They are for the lower part of front/ back bumper that add on to make it have the lower look to it. If yu search this site https://www.gravanatuning.com/applic...2.2.aspx?cat=5

you can buy valences and u can see what they are...

BUT THE GOOD NEWS

I GOT MY CAR BACK TODAY W/ THE FRONT SS BUMPER AND FRONT VALENCES. IT LOOKS BADASS AND ITS NOT VERY NOTICABLE THAT THE FRONT IS LOWER THEN THE SIDE AND REAR. All together it still flows smoothly. But I will try to post some pics on saturday since i had bad shawdows tonight when i took pics. also i threw my new rims on too. looks nice

When you say front bumper, do you mean the plastic fascia or the steel reinforcement underneath?

just the plastic. there was no need for any steel added to my vehicle.

Only since you asked nice. And also the fog lamps from the dealership are 90 dollars each plus 75 dollars each for a wireing harness. So it would cost about $330. so i guess ill just try a pep boys once i find out what size they are. But here are the pics as requested.
