Who Wants To Go Wingless????

Okay I got someone how is willing to professionally fix those dreaded holes in the trunk from taking of spoilers. He said if he got a group of people to be in on it he would be able to give a great deal. He works for a welding/ sheet metal company for over 15 years so he good at the **** he does. So im trying to get a list of people who are up for it. So anyone down?

I seriously doubt this would be cheaper than getting it done local for most people. Your talking about shipping a full steel trunk.

Not to mention that with some of the colors on these cars, it is not the easiest thing to match paint with panel painting. Not knowing if you reduced it too light, if you sprayed too many coats, etc, etc.

Not trying to hate on ya but unless it was local I don't see much advantage.

Well right now depending on how easy/hard it is to do my trunk, he will tell me how much to do others. So maybe he can do it for like 250-300. and then to paint a trunk? not more than 500 max total. It's alot of $ but compared to $1000, id rather do it that way. And maybe it will be cheaper, idk, it depends on how long it takes for mine. So I just wanted to throw it up there.

I went to a local body shop and they quoted me $1100 to weld in the holes individually and repaint the trunk. So if u know any local places for 200 let me know. And the cf trunk is 500 plus shipping i believe. And this is more for people who want to keep the car low profile. I Not really into the cf thing for trunk and hood everyones different. But i just thought this would actually be a good deal. And like i said that 200 you said doesn't include the paint job does it. Also I was gearing this more towards locals, but if the price works out for people outside then great. I'm just simply trying to help people out, cause i know the plugs in the trunk look ugly, vinyls same, and the scratch marks on the trunk from taking the wing off are very noticeable. So if anyone is interested Ill see how I can make it work for them.

Wow. That shop is **** rape. There is no reason that a trunk alone should cost $1100 to do all that. Hell... it didn't even cost $500 to have the large crease removed and the passenger side quarter panel repainted when I messed that up on my G5.

I can get mine done for less than 200 bucks painted; I got peeps lolz. Actually I can do it myself if I wanted to but Only way i would actually go wingless is if I was able to lower my car to the point it would actually look good.

Easy, You have friends that knows how to do ****. You get bored so instead of playing the 360 for hours you fill the holes. Besides I can weld and I can paint.

im sorry but if you pay 1000 bucks for that your a complete *******. Hell man if you have to drive around and get prices. I would put quiksteel in the hole and put bondo over that before I would put a grand to fill those small ass holes.

What you need to do is go to your local paint shop supply shop where you can get automotive paint and ask them if they know anyone that is a weekend warrior that could do your paint job for you. Thats how I found my guy to fix some small chips on my back bumper. Bigger paint shops wanted like 500 bucks to fix it.

Yea hell no i wouldnt do that ****. I laughed my ass off and walked outa there. But to buy a new trunk wingless and paint it would cost 5-7 hundo. And i know a guy who siad he could bondo it and paint it for 250. But then id need a box under the holes to fill the bondo and then the trunk will eventually start to crack.

Since you have a Cobalt, I suggest doing a swap route. Swap trunks with an LS or Base that lacks a wing. If you actually are a G5, then you'd have to do a plug up route since all G5's have a wing.

Costs about $50 in metal, and paint. 95% of that being painting material.

I did my cavaliers for under $40 with a mig, 20 gauge, polyflex, and paint.

About to do it to my Cobalt but just need to get the time.

I wouldn't mind letting anyone local using my tools. Just shaving the holes takes under an hour. And probably less in material than a 6 pack.

Paint is where anything can happen.

holy jeebus. $1000 will buy you a new trunk lols. Its probably alot cheaper to just find a counterpart wingless trunk in a junk yard.
