Thumbs up COBALT SS WINS!! Sebring SCCA National!!!

Good morning everyone from Sunny Florida!!!

Our new 2006 Cobalt SS had its formal coming out party at the Sebring SCCA Florida winter Nationals yesterday, Sunday January 8th and what a show it was... Racing against Mini Cooper S's, Honda civic Si's, Mazda Miatas and Acura Sx's, the Cobalt ran faster times than all of them and was very impressive in taking the win!!!

Some interesting facts...

--This Cobalt SS is NOT Supercharged!!

--It qualified second in its frst time on track...

--John Heinricy did the driving (Of GM Corvette and HP Division fame) went to work and quickly and ran down the leading Mini Cooper S, passing on lap 10 for the lead and winning!!!

--This Cobalt SS is identical to the one you can buy off the showroom floor with the exception of a racing roll cage, saft y equipment and alignment setup!!! PHOENIX PERFORMANCE of Phoenixville Pa did the race prep work and set up...

--What A Car!!! The Cobalt never skipped a beat in over two hours of track time

-- We used Hoosier R DOT racing slicks on stock wheels...

I think Chevy has a revolution started here.... Finally something to take on all of the tuner cars!!!!!

More to come...

What adds to this is the fact that the car WAS NOT an SS/SC. I was thinking that you guys were campaigning an SS/SC complete with the diff.

Bravo to you guys for the win!!

That is awesome! I feel so excited. I am impressed that it beat the Mini Cooper S because I heard those things own the track!

Congrats! Do you have any pictures on the track?

Were you guys about equal power wise or were you pulling in the straights? Equal cornering or beating them in the corners?

The Mini S was faster down the straights, The SS was better under braking and through the turns....

It was a classic battle!!! It appeared the Mini lost tires and brakes towards the end of the race...

The Cobalt SS was easy on tires, and the brakes were awesome... Over three hours of track time on the Hoosier tires and they are still good for another race... The Pagid brake pads look hardly used...

Awesome! I would have figured the Mini would whoop up in the corners. Seems like it was purpose built to handle and the Cobalt was not. I'm very shocked! Congratulations!
