Time Attack Cobalt choice.

Time Attack Cobalt choice.
Hello everyone,
I looking to buy my first Cobalt and was wondering which would be more beneficial for time attack / auto cross. I've noticed a wide variety on the forums of people using either LSJ or LNF, as well as L61 in the case of Foximus Motorsport. So my question is if you could have any model of cobalt with a $2500 upgrade budget which would you get for time attack / auto cross.
Thanks

Most likely a lnf. With that 2500 ain't much you can buy. To make something as close to the lnf from a Lsj it will take a little more money but at that same token the Lsj would be a power house.

I can get an LSJ for $3500 - $4000 and a LNF for $7000 - $8000. Would the difference in price added to the $2500 be enough to make the LSJ a better option or would more money be needed?

for the lsj to get you power like the LNF you would have to run a TVS supercharger to get over the 300whp hump. on the stock supercharger with a heat exchanger, intake, header, downpipe, exhaust, say a 2.7 pulley, stage 2 belt, dual pass end plate, 60-80lbs injectors, meth kit or E85 youll be around 270-290whp.
Honestly though its all in how much power you really want man. theres endless possibilities but if i were you id go with the LNF.

The lnf is definitely the better off the line choice. Better brakes, better suspension, and easier to make power....
For a dedicated autocross car I think a tvs lsj is "probably" the best but it would take quite a bit of money to get to that point. But with your budget grab an lnf...a tvs lsj will require a lot more money then a lnf lol

You need to figure out what class you want to run and that will help make your decision easier. Mods quickly rack up points.
I personally think the lnf is the way to go in this case.

These are the base points for stock Cobalts:
LNF stock = 70.5 points(PI)
LSJ stock = 58.3 points(PI)
This is the rule book for showing points for upgrades:

I would like to stay in the GT1 and lower class for a couple years at least. Not sure If CASC and SCCA have similar point value system and class requirements. Max you can have is 79.9 points before being pushed into SGT classes.

That being said, will you actually be racing in the CASC Time Attack?
If so, I think the LSJ would be a bad option, and a couple small mods (Header and Koni's) will keep you in the same class and will give you a big handling and small power bump so you can be more competitive.
I almost joined the Time Attack a couple years ago and am reasonably familiar with the points system they use

I vote lnf. I only have a catless dp, intake and a tune, and I'm putting down 336whp & 377 wtq at 25psi. They can put down power with just a few mods, then it's whatever you can spend after.

If you're wanting auto-x get the LNF, the difference in knuckle design (iirc thats the part, someone who actually recalls correct me if i'm wrong) effects the turning radius. LSJs are stupid wide compared to the LNF

I have purchased several things from them. Omiotec used to work there. Wish their transmissions were cheaper I would have them do one for me. They are big in the solstice/srt4 merchandise.
