guys please take 2 minutes to read this story as it can save you bigtime hassle in the future... i purchased an 07 cobalt ss/sc in september.. just before winter hit i bought a set of winter rims and blizak revo 1 tires. anyways one day when my passenger door was open all the way i noticed that it rubbed on my fender cause there was a little wind and when the door would move i could hear the rub, even when i would open and close the door i would hear the rub.. so at the time the car was about only a month old and i had just put the winter rims on it for winter.. when i took it to the dealership the guy in the bodyshop said that he will try to fix it but im lucky because if he wanted to he can void my warranty cause i dont have stock rims. i laughed and asked why he would void it, and he said my door rubbing on my fender was caused by my tires being slightly too big causing them to rub on the fender which caused it to pull back far enough to hit my door. i got so pissed off at the guy because i knew he was talking ****. in the end i complained to management and got the car fixed without losing warranty and the guy got pissed at me. we ended up exchanging a few words before i left and that was that. i got second opinions from another mechanic and he laughed and said theres no way my tires caused that damage, if they did then my fenders would be torn up on the inside, which they werent...
this is where it gets good... i just got out of my lease last week, that morning i signed the lease over to the guy, we decided to go out for lunch to celebrate his new cobalt and my new srt-4 i got.. so we hop in his new cobalt and head out to lunch. the guy loved his new ride and was really excited...
after lunch (about an hour or 2) we were on our way home and stopped at a red light, then all of a sudden BANG!! yes its true, he got rear ended the very same day i signed over the car. he exchanged his info with the guy and off we went to the dealership to see what the damage was.
we get to the dealership and asked them to check out the car, sure enough the guy with the rim delema came out looked at the rims and said..."i remember this car", i said nothing and then he tells my buddy "i refuse to do any work to this car" i went to the guy and asked why and he said because he didnt like me and was pissed about what happened with the rim delema. then i said "you might be pissed at me but you cant hold a grudge on my car because its now under a new owner and i have nothing to do with it. the guy said i dont care and leave, my buddy was so dam pissed already about the accident and now this ****. i went inside to speak to the management about this and was almost positive they would understand the situation.. the manager went to the back to speak with us and to my surprise he said "it is totally up to us on whos work we decide to do for thier car and if he doesnt want to do it then he doesnt have to" i couldnt believe what i heard i was so pissed off, in less than 2 years i bought 3 cars from them and was actually going to buy 2 more vehicles from them this next month (for business). needless to say i am never going to that dealership ever again and i just wanted to let you guys al know to avoid that place because they have no respect for anyone, especially the younger crowd.
my bro went in to get a headlight replaced on his 05 optra and the idiot forgot to put the bulb in the headlight housing, we noticed that night, my friends truck didnt start one day and brought it in to get fixed, the very next day in the morning it wouldnt start again, THEY FORGOT TO FIX HIS PROBLEM AND SENT IT BACK TO HIM!..
every time i went into that dealership the guy at the counter would say "i hope you didnt modify your car,cause i wont even get it looked at if you did"...****** rude i tell you.
IN THE END GUYS PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM GATEWAY CHEVY IN BRAMPTON ONTARIO!! IT IS A BAD PLACE WITH BAD SERVICE AND HORRIBLE MECHANICS! A STORY WILL BE PUT IN THE LOCAL PAPERS ABOUT THIS AND A LETTER TO HEAD OFFICE.
the poor guy that took over my lease was so upset about everything and puzzled as well as to why they wouldnt look at his car, i feel so bad for him and i dont recoment Gateway Chevy to anyone!

Well.....thats an odd story.
You are mad because a Mechanic or the Whole Dealer refused to work on your car? If it's the Mechanic..who F-ing cares? You made him look dumb and frankly I wouldn't let the guy get within breathing distance of the car. If it's the whole dealer....well that ain't right and they can't do that.
Either way....take it to another dealer and mention non of this. You have the choice of ANY GM dealership in Canada.

Sucks but its true they don't have to work on your car. No law says if you bring a car to a shop they MUST fix it. Be lucky they didn't try to charge you with trespassing cause thats what my old dealership did to a guy once.
All you can do is file a complain with the BBB and do what your doing here. Sorry to hear about that crap bud.

Dude, I don't think they can legally do that. Just because somebody doesn't like you, doesn't mean they can deny you service.... I would contact the BBB (Not sure if that applies in Canada)

I've been down this road before with "customers" I've even had the police called on me but their's nothing they can do.

i totally get what all of you are saying, but remember one thing...this car is no longer mine so technically the gay mechanic/bodyshop manager is denying service on a new customers car which was owned by someone he hated... imagine you buy a new car from someone and just because the closest dealer you live to just so happened to hate the guy who owned the car before you.. this guy was already pissed enough as it is that he got hit the first day he got it now this?? and also i understand he can take it to another dealer but im just giving you guys all a heads up on this POS dealership with crappy service. i will never refer anyone to this dealer nor ever go back myself.
oh and by the way its the whole bodyshop that wont do work to my car, the manager said he wouldnt even take the car in anymore and to take it elsewhere.

Ah dealerships, all they do is shove cars up peoples asses then say see ya got your money *******.. If someone hates you and wont work on ur car that is pretty stupid, but unless he said (I hate you, so I'm not going to work on your car) and you don't have witnesses I think your fighting a lost cause.. Sadly we all get screwed in our life time but I just find it easier to say what people want to hear (you don't have to believe it) but it helps then you may get what you want or need.. Just walk away son and whatever you do, just go to the better buisness bureu.. You may get sued for slander if the dealership feels that way.. And besides why do you have to take it to the original dealer anyways! Go somewhere else..

damn that has got to be on of the crappiest bussiness attitudes I have heard,GM Canada would love to hear of this story,they will indeed tell you to just take the car to another dealership,but they will probly also send you some vouchers for oil changes etc...

Gateway Chev huh? Don't even get me started on wht they did to Eddie's car (Player1). Worst ******' dealership in the GTA and I knew this before I read this story. If my car broke down outside their dealership you can bet your ***** it wouldn't go there. Send the guy to Applewwood Chev in Mississauga, speak to a little Spic named Jose, great guy and great shop

i definately wont ever go back there since i got rid of the cobalt and bought an SRT-4 (best thing ive done in a while and the dodge dealerships are much more tuner friendly)
im just pissed at what they have done to the guy who bought my car, poor guy was already so pissed. i spoke to him and said hees taking the car to another dealer but will make sure to tell everyone he ever runs into to stay away from Gateway. i seriously still cant believe the guy told us both to leave even after i told him the car was no longer mine and was a new customers.

your not getting it^^ the guy got in the accident was the one that bought my car... how am i supposed to know that that *** would treat him like **** just because he owns the car i used to have? what was i supposed to do before i sold it? say oh by the way dont go to that dealership cause the bodyshop is filled with dicks?? im sure that would convince the guy to want my car.

At first i thought you were talking about the dealership I work at....but I don't live in Canada...but I do work at Gateway Chevrolet in Avondale, AZ, USA...crazy! Sorry for the crappy situation. Good luck to the new owner!

k... I just read the begining of your issue... and I have paint off the edge of my drivers door.... John Logan Chevrolet refused to paint it saying that the fenders (both sides) were damaged and pushed out because my car was jacked up in the wrong spot....
But I too had winter tires, with GM steelies and Winter Force tires....
Could this be the cause ?.....
I'm dealing with GM customer service right now for this and other issues...

That sucks , but for current and future gm/chevy owners if your having a legit problem with your dealership call GM directly and let them know, takes about 30 days for a response from corp. HQ.

That sux. I go to John Logan and havnt had a problem with them since i purchased my car there. And your right about Gateway Chev. The Salesman there fu@&ed up my ****. We had an agreement that i would get an SS from them (on the lot) for $21 after taxes and int. Went to the bank to make sure i had enough to make my Down payment. Returned within 1/2 hr. Raised the price to $26k BEFORE taxes and int. Still pissed...but im still loving my LT from John Logan.
