So I don't know if Darren has mentioned this to you guys or not, but I'm having quite a tissle on my hands thanks to the Alberta government and their window tinting laws. Apparently, they do not allow ANY tint on the front driver and passenger windows of a passenger vehicle.
So in order for me to pass the out of province inspection (to get my Alberta and plates), I technically need to remove the tint, which blows monkey *****. However, a guy at work knows a place where they'll overlook the tint and pass it anyway, but I will still run the risk of getting pulled over and ticketed. A lot of guys say they've gone years without any hassle, but others say they've been pulled over several times. I'm basically at a crossroads here. The car looks WAY better with the tint on, but at the same time I don't wanna put up with any B.S. from the 5-0. What do you guys think?
PS - isn't there any better crimes to fight around here than window tinting anyway? Are the cops that bored???

And no cops dont have anything better to do then to ticket and harass sporty cars. I've actually been told by a cop that if i drove a less "racer" looking car then i wouldnt draw so much attention. And i've been lucky enough to get the good ol front light coverings ticket... becuase it was clowdy out that day.

Still need some pop and chips...someone grab some? Maybe just throw the pop in the fridge the night prior, should stay cold till we get to A'burg.

Long post
So yeah on my way home from work this morning(evening whatever) at around 3 am.I am driving home minding my own business. Not speeding or anything. So I see a red light up ahead so I down shift and come to a stop while coasting to it.As I get closer to the light I see a cop just sitting there with his lights on(head lights and such). So when the light turns green I go at a normal speed. As soon as I pass him.He turns and is behind me for a minute or so on my ass.Till he finally puts the Cherries on.So I pull over, blinker and all that crap so I don't get any tickets because he's an ass.Comes up to the passanger side.
cop : Where are you coming from
me : work
cop : Where do you work?
me : blah blah blah
asked what I do and everything.
So finally he asked for my papers. So i give them to him.
Then he asked,Why did you stop back there?
I was dumbfounded...I was like what answer is he looking. So I just said whatever came out."It was a stop light?"
So he's like,"Well yeah. But you started to stop so far away.I'd say a 100 yards away"
So I answer."I find it easier just to down shift when there's noone else on the road since its 3 am."
cop,"I see.I totally agree with you"
So he goes back to his car and probably runs all my papers and such.I'm sitting in my car for say about 5 minutes.Thinking WTF?
So he comes back, and its dark out so it looks like he has a ticket in his hand.I'm thinking wtf did I do.But he gets to the window and gives me all my stuff back and says
"Drive safe and have a good night"
Then he leaves and turns around,Guessing he went back to the same spot. Not 1 minute later. He pulled someone else over as I looked in my rearview mirroir
Honestly,Don't they have better things to do then bother people not doing anything wrong?
Guess I stopped to safely for him or something.Or probably saw the Wing on the back?

Yeah, Nova. He probably was just finding an excuse to check to see if you were drinking or not. He probably assumed you had been drinking because in his mind, you were driving overly cautious. At least they aren't busting on you for tinted windows!!
Duh? Um, how about when it's 40 below outside, genius? Am I supposed to drive around with the windows down then?
But it is true, any type of 'sporty' car or even flashy colours (yellow, anyone?) will obviously attract more heat than driving say, a Corolla. But I suppose that's just the price we pay for our fun.
RJ man thats easy to answer, just when driving keep your windows down, then when you park it just roll them up. That way when a cop see's ya, they won't see the tint on um.... duuuh..
