yah Andy....the Cobalt has been gone for a few months now. Only have one car in the household now...gotta protect myself since I work in the automotive sector.

 

I know what you mean. I lost my job last November, but have a pretty good job right now, but the pay's nowhere near the same. I haven't had to sell the Cobalt.............yet! We'll see what happens this coming year!

I hope you don't have too much hardship and that the loans help out some, for a while at least!

Oil change prices will differ with specialty oil, such as Mobil-1 because it isn't purchased in bulk ahead of time, but by the box.

The average is around the $110 mark at GM dealers in Windsor I have noticed from previous experience.
Also, I clearly remember watching them pour almost 7 litres of oil in. I said the book only called for around 5.5L or something close to that, but then I got the actual #'s. They did it for me, checked it, and it was definitely low. 6.7L or something is what it takes, so just keep an eye on that dipstick guys. Just a head-up.

Darren, congrats on the car, welcome to the hatch family..

The Cobalt stock will bury its needle.. trust me.. I had two units of measure; the speedo, and the GPS. The car cleared 158mph., and hit the bury mark of 260km/h on the speedometer.
Anyhow, it was around 5300rpm or so? Can't remember back that far, but it was no where near redline, lots left in it, but the car itself cannot handle more, even if you have Stage 25 billion.

hey guys, sorry havent been on here in a while, just wanna say hi see hows eveyrone doin, lived in london for about half a year no access to computer there! but yeah i got a quick questions hopefully someone can help me out, i brought my car into my mechanics place and found out i have a whole in my resonator-anyone know where i can buy a new one? or how this all works, my mechanic was saying you can just buy a resonator gotta buy the cat to i think, ?

 

Not sure how that works since you have the GMPP catback exhaust. I'm sure you could find a universal resonator to replace yours. Your cat is actually on your downpipe, so that should not have to be replaced. (the resonator sits under the middle of the car)

 

WTF buy a new resonator?! That exhaust is warrantied! I paid a shitload of money for that exhaust, your ass better take it to the dealer and have them replace it.. lol..
If they give you ****, tell them **** YOU! Its a GM item, it don't matter, blow me!

the resonator does sit low...wonder if he hit something. Good luck getting GM to cover something on the exhaust on a second owner vehicle.

really never knew that would be under warranty? last time i went was at like 61,000 km and they told me my warranty expired where now when i bring it in, the charge me per the hour. not sure on what to do moe? though about the stock exhuast putting it back on but i didnt see any resonator in the box, what do you think i should do? ive had minor problems, lately everytime i put gas in it seems to idol very rough and fucked up when i start the car, wondering if thats the resonator causing this?

 

That exhaust is part of the EXHAUST warranty, which is 8/160,000km IIRC.
The only time they should charge you is if they are diagnosing a non-powertrain issue.
As for the factory exhaust, I forget if it had a resonator or not; I put what I removed in the box.

The rough idle on start up could be caused by he resonator, no doubt.
What other things do you bring it in for that you couldn't get done at another shop for less?

From what i can remember there are different warranty for different things.. everything is covered until 60,000 kms, then i beleive mechanical (transmission,exhaust,) that kinda stuff if covered up until 100,000-120,000 depending on which company. The stuff that isn't covered under that is like if ur window stops working, or ac breaks.. cosmetic stuff. Now this is just off of what i've come to understand when they explained it to me. Not sure what the exhaust falls under though.

 

I always thought it was part of the emissions warranty. His powertrain is 5/160k..
They are just ******** and they like to dick people around if you don't push to get things done..

So I've also noticed that alot of the old crew have sold their Cobalts now, which is a sad site. Obviously, you gotta do what you gotta do, but I'm thinkin by the time I get back home, none of you guys are even going to have an SS anymore. Oh well, all's well that ends well I guess.
