Dont make me get out and scan my old car and driver im looking at...i think when they schduled it for 07 it was rated at 300 and since they had problems with it they now have less power for 08...hence why it was delayed...

and in my opinion . . . they had potential for so much more releasing the turbo for style wise, stupid gm ! the could of mad it a completly differnet look so that the last 3 years of cars dont all ****** look the same . . . . how hard would it of been to make a new style bumper for the 08.5, or maybe a functional ram air hood , or maybe even a new style wing ? they all look the same !!!!!

I never came out and "bashed" richard, he stated his opinion that a turbo LSJ is a POS with no reliability and i wanted to know why its such a POS, where are these facts taken from? What makes a turbocharged engine any less relaible than a SC one? Of course when you try and add 50% more power to a engine its going to blow up. It just wasnt designed for those power levels. Its funny that every turbo LSJ has put out more power than a SC LSJ. why, Because to make big power the Eaton has to be taken WAY out of the efficency range and all it does is make heat, detonate and rob horsepower from overspinning it. From those facts alone id say that a turbo is more efficent and safer than the Eaton would be at the same horsepower levels.

I never said i knew everything about cars and i am smart enough to admit that i dont. I have been wrenching on cars, sleds, dirtbikes, quads for about 10 yesrs now. I have rebuilt MANY 2 and 4 stroke engines from sleds and bikes. Right from the crank up. I have also been employed as a mechanic at one of the largest snowmobile/ATV dealerships in Manitoba. I got hired without any formal small engines/power mech papers. Why would they hire somebody with no formal experience?? Because I knew what i was doing, and i proved it with the work i did there. I worked there for just under a year and realised that there was no money in it and now i work in the Geotecnical engineering feild.

Me and my brother have made a supercharger kit for a 2002 2.4 cavy and the year after it was done ripped the engine out and and dropped in a 3.1V6 and it is running a T3/T4 50 trim. Soon to be a GT40. The cavy made 320whp on a 3.1 that we got for 100$ at the junkyard. I have been around turbos, and cars long enough to know what i am doing.




Maybe the SRT can handle 450whp, Pablo has proved that. But pablo would you like to share your mod list in order to achieve that 450 (or whatever you dynoed at HP). I am sure the list as pretty long......Oh and if you want i can show you a link to where GM made over 1000HP on the ecotec so dont think to say that the LSJ has no potental because some people have blown it up around the 300hp mark.

From what i am reading your test of what engine is better is how much HP it can handle on stock internals. So in that case im gonna throw a Duromax diesel in the cobalt..........1000 ft. LBS. torque on stock internals here i come........


I am not "bashing" just stating my opinion on how i see things. I hope you didnt get offended when i told you that your idea of swapping in a complete WRX engine AND drivetrain into the cobalt probably just want gonna work.............
