i would just end up gettin the 18" winter tires

Plus I had those new toyo's put on them just before winter. So having a extra set of tires is going to be awesome.

ok got bad news....my front rotor's are apparently warped and my driver break is slim...so the dealership quoted me on these prices....there are 2 different sets of ac delco rotors, 1 is $118/each and the other is $157/each...with their brakes thats $199 w/ installation included in the 199 price, it comes to 515 + tax they said for everything....for the gm rotors its $286 each...god damn car..slowing my mods down now...does anyone know a place to get good but not expensive rotors and brake pads?? i just wasted $18 for them to tell me that...fucken gay dealership and they aint helping me out with my rattling door handle either, prolly b/c the warranty is only 9500 kms's away from being gone and only power train would be left...i'm pissed off @ the dealership now...

can they not just machine the rotors? I had the rotors machined twice I belive because of a shaking steering wheel, but nobody ever mentioned new rotors. The machining was also done under warrenty.

Try calling part source or something and get some prices.. Because doing the breaks on these cars is easy. I changed both front pads in my buddies garage in literally 20 minutes. Rotors would take a little longer, but its still very much do able.

Yeah Hispano, the rotors shouldn't be your responsibility, just pads IMO.

I heard that rotors on these cars are a huge concern. I'd get the GMPP ones if I were changing. Apparently they stop any squeeking/warping.

I read somewhere on here that some ppl have had the rotors machined under warranty multiple times - some even replaced - under warranty.

Txt me if you wanna cruise later ;-)

gay.. you STILL have warrenty. 10 000K is still a decent amount of km's. Lots of stuff can go wrong in that time.

I would defintally go somewhere else and save yourself that 500 bucks.

You shouldnt have even had to pay that 20 bucks IMO.

bitch them out, or go somewhere else

try talkin to someone higher up. They are usually more willing to help then a tech.

ya, even with other new cars they always machined the rotors. I dont know why they are doing this to u.

Pads are definitally your responsibility, but rotors, from my experiences, not so much.

If you can't get warranty help from Orion, I would just buy new rotors and pads from this guy:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/deleted-threads-89/oem-size-performance-cross-drilled-slotted-rotors-17882/

EDIT - Or, maybe talk to someone who works at a dealership and see what kind of price you can get on GMPP rotors and new pads and do the work yourself or with some friends.

Dealers try to charge for inspections. I usually tell them "no, but if you find work that needs to be done when I come for an oil change then quote or warranty it. that would be fine. if not then I will go some where else." You will get it done free then.

When your booting around a corner you can tell. winter driving will be better too. IMO. ask others who have it. I only know of Dayn and Maj. I didnt know WPG SS/SC had it.

I would be interested in one maybe two.

When they said one is too thin they mean there will not be enough metal on the rotor after cutting. and when you replace one rotor you replace them in pairs as per MB Safety regs. and considering his mileage unfortunately it sounds about right. but on that side that is thin the guide pins need to be lubed and caliper to be checked to be sure the boot is in good condition and the piston moves freely. that is what a good tech should do automatically. it is hard to find one looking out for your interests. I have a few I can trust but they dont work at a GM dealer.

To much money. Check out an independent. could get EBC Red stuff pads. rotors are available I sure. the pads are cheaper and better than GM. $90.00 for pads. didnt price out rotors yet though.

Get the cheapest rotors you can IMO. rarely is it worth just turning them on a little car IMO. a big truck or car sure then, but little cars never. Rotors are usually not expensive as the cobalt though LOL.

Yeah go somewhere else. IMO orion sounds like your best best. other places would likely have no mercy since your at like 45,000K. But you could try McNaught. they want to get there customer service rating up I think. they did my brakes no charge. but dont pay to have them look at it. just walk if they try that. that is shameful IMO.

Pontiac - that's why I won't go. Not that I COULDN'T, but I will go to a Chevy Dealer for my Chevy. And as far Chevy dealers go, Orion is my fav. I know that the cars are the same, but hey, I live near Orion and I like being picky when it comes to my ride. And I bought mine at Orion, so there is some added clout I have ;-)

But what I wanna know is what price they sell Stg2 at :-)

Its not that I live and breathe Orion. Its just that they have been great to me over the years, so a person would tend to go back and refer friends to that place.

Plus Orion is literally 2 minutes away, so its a convenience thing as well
