and to doing your own brakes...i have done my own rotors on my 2.4 when i traded it back in.it was very easy and i did both front wheels rotors and pads in under an hour.it was very easy to do.if you have some kinda smarts i would say to do it yourself.if you have no idea...then pay someone to do it for you.admiting you dont know how to do it is ok when it comes to a safety issue.i luckily knew how to do it lol. orion quoted e like $700 to do the job at the time....i called piston ring and got all the parts i think for under $150,did the labour myself and laughed at orion lol

have fun a kenny's wes , take some vids lol

SHort story. from 1st and a roll. 1 1/2 car lengths.

now for the long story.
His TB is good. so if the maf. he called me this morning to go for a run as he was near my home.

he rolls up as I hear him and it is super quiet cruising. hits the gas and off for a list PSSSTTTHH!!, at 5lbs boost he said, sound great. I still like whine but this is really nice. quiet car.

I am putting on the 3" smooth Flow Pulley. (I get a royalty for saying that) we finish that up. look over his set-up, and then head out to the closed course for runs. we wouldnt do anything on the street.

so first run - 2nd gear 3000 we're pretty close - he had a small creep going, I miss shift. so from there I had to guess he would put a car length on me.

2nd run - same as first with no miss shift he has a car length maybe a little more.

3rd run - 1st gear roll - right to close to top of third he has for sure 1.5 car lengths.

comments on this. my 3"pulley definitely gave me some improved low end. but in the end that didnt matter. I went for a ride in kenny's car and I have been in turboed cars prior. basically no lag. it was very quiet cruising but once on the throttle it really went. He says that this is with low boost (12.5 I think, didnt ask for sure but I believe as well he was going to go to 15lbs so he can confirm). more tuning needed but it is mainly spark as fuel seems to right on. drivability is spot on.

impression. - you want low 13's with GMS2. go turbo. you will be ready for the future forsure. $1500 and some ingenuity goes along way. this car will do 13.6 right now as is. but low 13's well tuned on GMS2 injectors is not out of the question. Daily driver running is maintained which is important to me. I liked this alot.

GMS2 injectors can be swapped for the 60lbs and tune it. then when all done go back to your GMS2 injectors and reflash for the time being. swapping injectors can take 20 or 30 mins.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO GO THIS WAY vs TVS.

thanks alot KENNY for the ride/runs. Declared fastest cobalt in MB. I am still the fastest in winnipeg though LOL and the fastest SC'ed... LOL

I am headed to GIMILI to record action for sure. Great job Kenny! you did it.

When you say 1.5 car lenghts do you mean there was a .5 car lenght gap between your nose and his back bumper? or was there a 1.5 car lenght gap between the two cars? I'm guessing he needs to get it tuned and the boost has to go up, 12.5psi is for hondas

Just a prediction. 12.8 on stock tires at 18lbs boost provided fueling can be maintained and laminova in stock intake does not interfere. then there will be a need for fueling changes and or air to air intercooler with new intake.

If the car can trap 108-110MPH then a 12.8 is very achievable, all you need is a 2.2 60ft and some decent traction in 2nd. Sounds to me like this car should trap 112ish on just 18psi, that's guessing it's around 105 now. Like I said can't wait to see it

What device were you using? I've had good luck with the G Tech Pro RR, it's within a tenth of the track.

yah tractions sucks, but there are several stage 2s running 13.6 to 13.9 with good 60 fts.. and of course even more (most) of them running 14.0 or higher lol. just shows how much a good launch is worth

so for sure that turbo setup will run better times than that once traction and all that are worked out..

anyways i don't see why i can't break into the high 13's with stage 2 and exhaust and intake, but we'll see on may 17 at gimli, and i can' wait to see kenny's turbo balt too

on that note.. may 17 is coming fast, who is up for going as a group?? should we start a list and figure out whos all going?

Well you dont have a faster time slip than me and you have never raced me. and on top of that your in a different class with another power adder anyway. I was all GM when I got my timeslip. you can claim you are but your not official.

when are you going to challenge me?

you see there are those who run at see level. were about 850 ft. In MB I have the only car that has done 13.9 and it has done it many times. I want all cobalts to be faster than what I have done. I was hoping JUAN was the one. unfortunatly the car had other ideas then our own.

lol, i'm good at ricer math, so in that case of the people i know and going strictly by their mods i would say:

silverbullet has the fatest ss/sc without nitroous (stage 2, exhaust, airbox mod, manifold),
neutrino with n2o
and then kenny beats all with ss/tc

and Wes, are you still running stock exhaust with that 3.0 pulley? and what were all your mods when you ran 13.9?

and this is just ricer math, its a joke lol, so nobody get worked up

K&N drop in filter and GMS2. I have stock exhaust now and GMS2 and 3" pulley.
dont judge times based on mods either. a few have tried to go faster than me with lots of different mods but no one has been successful.
Kenny will crush it this year. he is already faster I know that for sure. He proved it and has earned that title "manitoba's fastest"

Just by mods Wes I think i should really have you covered but you never know...

- Stage 2
- Ingalls Torque Dampener
- Intake
- Ported Supercharger
- 75 Shot Nitrous
- 3' DP to electric cutout..(doesnt add much although never tested)
- 2 turbo tech stickers and a cobaltss.net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bitch

And I have no tune done so it runs like **** now...

yah i know exactly what you mean Wes, i check out all the slips and mods on here in the other sections and there are so many people running bad times with tons of mods.. but its been said time and time again, heat is the enemy but so many people overlook cooling mods

BUT, there is no doubt in my mind a free-flowing exhaust will increase hp especially on a stage 2 car, and for your 3.0" pulley setup the gm build book even says you need a free-flowing exhaust to maximize performance..
