For one it's a non-metallic paint - if it was a metallic paint, you would have to be that much more precise wit hte mixture, and applying it in different temperatures would subject it to appearing slightly different;
but you are a regular paint - if that dealer has a body shop side (most in Calgary closed them), they would mix larger portions of the paint, but you can otherwise buy it in touchup, or spray can...
the only thing that's going to affect the finish coat base coat (primer) colour... otherwise, it's a cake-walk.

Incase it matters (it almost seems like my post was ignored), the dismantler that had the '09 SRTC CSS last summer was on Plessis Road, right next to the autopac auction yard...
IMHO, their prices were VERY reasonable too.
I used to have family that lived off of grassie... that's how I remember the area.

Here, it's Team Auto Parts;

I'd wager that stock#T486 is the EXACT car I grabbed the interior out of...
With only a total model year run (USA & Canada) for '09 Cobalt SS's sitting at somewhere around 3500, odds are they haven't moved that drivetrain yet... and aside from the interior, that car was 100% complete...
(I would have bought the wheels, but they wanted too much)

The team srtc one I priced out s bunch of stuf for people.
The hi rise they wanted like 450 for
The trunk (they wouldn't separate the tail lights)
They wanted nearly a grand!
They wouldn't piece out the interior panels either.
They wanted over 200 for the head unit I believe as well.. It was a USB though...

how long ago was that?
I'm wondering if maybe their pricing is flexible... and if you maybe priced that crap out last year, and they haven't had any bites since, maybe they would relent...
considering you can buy a brand new painted one for $450 (LINK) that makes their asking price a little crazy...
another link: CED spoilers catagory - page #2
IIRC they wanted at least a grand for he wheels... one of which was needing repair (I cannot recall the shape of hte rubber either)...

sure they may be into the car for $2k, but then they have to pay their own carrying fees (financing, as well as pay all the salaries, yadda, yadda, yadda...
I can understand what your'e saying, but in this situation, you cannot just look at their "buy-in" price to suggest they're being unreasonable...
But flat out, $1k for a trunk plus tail lights (minus spoiler), that is crazy.

well that's not too crazy... with stuff like that you gotta think about market worth;
sure they may be into the car for $2k, but then they have to pay their own carrying fees (financing, as well as pay all the salaries, yadda, yadda, yadda...

considering the cost of parts, I wouldn't even think of selling my spare for that.
The only thing I can see driving the price down is lower demand, because of lower production... but still price out cams, a head, and pick a third part, and I'd wager you're already at two grand... then there's the gaskets +++

Turbo manifold 150 bucks, turbo 200, intake manifold 100.
Id wager to say aftermarket cams, pistons and valves would be just shy of 2000.
You have to remember that this motor is used. Its not brand new. CED sells brand new ones for 3,000 (IIRC) maybe towards 4,000.

Yeah, that car was a pure shame...
IMHO, that car was only written off because your communist-insurance, err, autopac, wanted to remove a "high risk" car from the roads... I have no doubt that it would have been fixed if that happened in Alberta...
When I moved back to Alberta the Autopac rates were killing Albertas (as in it was wayyy cheaper, or much more affordable);
since 1997 (yup, I just dated myself!), thosae great rates seemed to have dissapeared into the woodwork, now your communist-insurance rates are pretty much bang on what we pay in Alberta...
For example, my '70 Firebird (which was my DD at the time btw) was roughly $500/year for full coverage including $1mil liability;
When I moved to Alberta, it jumped to (iirc) nearly $300/month...
Looks like the last good place to get insurance in Canada, is good old Saskatchewam... at least their communist-insurance (aka: SGI) is cheap...
...
Well like I said, if I can help anyone out by securing cheaper parts from out this way, just email me (via link in profile)... I'd be more than happy to help my Manitoba brethren out
