When you go to trade your cars in at the dealer. The price they will give you is the price that that particular car is going for at that present time at the auctions. They do NOT give you whatever is in Kelly's Blue Book. If the car is in demand at the auctions, they will give you a higher price. If there is no demand for that car at the auctions, they won't give you what you would expect for it. I learned this when I used to sell cars. So the price you get from them say this week, could be either higher or lower if you go back next week.

same as my LT, the dealer told me 12.5k a few months ago. I think it's probably worth around 11k right now. I know what you mean, cobalt really looses its resale value. I suspect that my bro's 03 civic might worth more than my cobalt right now.

I don't know about anyone else but when I did research on the SS/SC I found out that the depreciation was horrible...mostly because it is an economy car and because it is American. However, I bought it anyways knowing that I would drive it for ten years plus and didn't plan on selling it. The reason for this is because there is a really bad stigma that American cars are less reliable than imports, which may have been the case in the 80's, but is not true anymore. Any car that is taken care of and used in a reasonable manner will last for a very long time. So many of GM's vehicles have had better track records than companies like Honda and Toyota but they get no press for it. Plus its always deceiving when people who drive imports say that all that goes wrong are "minor" problems and when you ask them what it was they say "oh the transmission fell out", WTF is up with that. They just don't want to admit that they sold out their country and still got screwed. And by the way, when you actually do need a part for your import be prepared to wait weeks for it to come in while you pay up the ass for it. Also, the fact that customer service is better is a fantasy. People think that Honda, Nissan, Toyota, etc. will just fix anything you want right on the spot no questions asked, but its not true. If that were the case they wouldn't be making so much money right now. They will give you the same bullshit about how its your fault. Unless you bought a BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz your customer service isn't going to be fantastic, but if you did it better be considering that you spent $50,000+ on a car! Anyways, enough ranting but saying that a car is better just because it is an import is a big stinking load of ****.
PS-here's a good example of the great job Toyota is doing, http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=116181 to make sure you read the last sentence, it says that they recalled 2.7 million vehicles in 2006 alone! If you want more examples just type Toyota and recall into google

brakes are a wear item just like your clutch. that's why 99% of all dealers won't even touch 'em!! if your rotors are rusty and making a noise or the pads are cracked, etc. it's not the dealers fault or GM's fault, in the case of the rotors getting rusty i would blame it on the climate in canada and the salt on the roads and as far as cracked pads i would blame that on your driving habits (heating up the brake pads excessivly). if it was a mechanical problem with the brakes like the caliper or slide pins i would say yes that's a warranty issue but i don't think something like a squeek is a warranty issue as far as the brakes go. the rims are bull **** they should replace them! i would tell them you want to the Chevrolet customer solutions center and tell them what's going on and point them to this website.

I on the other hand, treat my car with care and it still acts and looks like new. I also have had the car as long and have more miles piled up on it in wintery weather.
