Who has the red SS that raced me on Woodbine on Saturday?

I was driving westbound on 14th ave and saw a red ss behind me and wanted to see if he would play. I made a turn onto woodbine and slowed down to see if he would line up, but instead, he gunned it and slung past me. He had a good run on me, and by the time I downshifted into 2nd, he was a good length or two ahead of me. I thought I could start pulling him in 3rd, but I couldnt make up the gap with him ahead of me (Damn!). Go into 4th and finally start reeling him in and pass him on the top end (Whew).

Gotta give respect where respect is due - that car was faster than I expected. Was it anyone on this board?

Mike.

Good run. Sounds like it was a stock one.

It would have to have been. There's no way he's going to come back and pull on even a stock SS/SC with just his other mods.

Nope. I dont think it would have been that close on the bottle (115mph traps). I pull ninja's cobalt on a roll normally aspirated.

I was pretty scared! Sids car isnt that fast.. he gave me a ride in it and honestly I was expecting more (dont tell him that though) They shipped him the wrong pulley, so maybe when he gets the proper one it will move a bit better.

You trap 115mph with an intake, header, exhaust and nos?!! Got any slips?

Yup, 115mph. No traction in first so I didnt use the n20 until top of 2nd gear.
I have the slips at my office and will scan them tomorrow. One of those runs was against Sean, so he can attest to their authenticity hehehe. The 60 fts and et are pretty embarassing tho.. i need to learn how to drive

ok first dont think im calling bs, good kill. but here is my personal experience with an LT1 SS Z28 of your same body style. i believe it was stock becuase it wasnt unusually loud. we went from a 40 roll and i let off at 100 probably had a good 10 cars on him, it was embarrasing. granted i am stage 2, but i just dont see how a 12 year old car with your mods is going to catch an ss/sc when you had to downshift to catch him after he had already blown by you. just seems a little odd. especially considering you had to downshift to 2nd which means you were probably doing 60ish when he passed you, probably had a very large lead on you. what speeds were these at because im not familiar with the gearing in your car.

I can understand where you are coming from. LT1 z28's are old these days and can vary wildly in performance, esp if the owner hasnt kept up with maintenance. There are lots of LT1 dogs out there.

I consider mine to be in decent condition. Bone stock it ran 100 mph traps, so would have made it a drivers race against a ss/sc at the time. I picked up 6mph from headers/intake/exhaust. For comparisons sake, redss on this forum had a bone stock ss/sc out on the same day that I was at the track and he only ran 97 mph on his best run. 9 mph is a pretty significant difference in a roll on situation. It took me until about the upper part of 4th gear to pass him, so thats about 150ish kph.

115 is nothing.. my friend with a LS1 camaro with the exact same mods as me + gears is running almost 122 mph on a full weight, stock motor car.

Haha. tell me about it! I know ppl that have gone high 11's with that trap, but they are usually sporting automatics with a high stall, 12 bolt rear ends and slicks.

I just noticed your sig - 1000' drag strip? That seems a bit unconventional.

I used to have a 6-speed 1996 Z28 with alot of bolt-ons, so I'm familiar. That's a strong car.

actually its not unconventional considering a long time ago the NHRA was going to go 1000 foot instead of 1/4 because of the speed of the cars, hence why there is a 1000 foot et on all slips
