I was never around when there was that many people so I wouldn't know. What I do know is the people I have met in this thread are good, fun people, and that is why I stayed as long as I did.
i dont really believe in this..... lets just say there many things we could change to be strong again..... besides nobody really ever grows out of car modding.... hmmm i am prime example.... 38 yrs old, getting paid peanuts to customizing cars.... you would think i would be absolutely sick of it by now.... yet i still play with my car everyday and yes i still get wood when i hear that sc scream.... i dont expect everyone to share my same passions.... i just want this to be fun again.... now you know why i have tookin this stance in this forum.... its about the cars/people/good times, everything else is minor....

the Cobalts were no longer "new" - and alot of the local scene was about having a new/fun car....
I'd put money down, that if we lived in a city, the same size, but a lower average income, the cobalt scene would be bigger, and a number of the former members would still have their cars instead of moving on into newer fancier cars...
Isn't it considered a three year itch?
After three years of ownership, it's no longer new, and many people (who can afford to) start thinking about getting something new...
I would love to see this scene be as big as it was before I came in...
But my best guess is that we aspire to be a tight-knit group, and welcome people with other cars, while aspiring to be completely drama-free...
no need to get defensive when we're joking around...
no need to make people pick sides when you perceive an issue at hand...
let's just be even keeled, not make rash decisions, and realize that those of us who are around, are here for a reason ~ and we're wholly interested in stress-free fun.
When I started the Facebook group - it was in the hopes of seeing the scene expand somewhat, and be more welcoming to non-delta owners...
unfortunately to date, I generally only see active members looking to recruit other delta owners...
Maybe we need a name change...
I dunno...
I just have percieved some serious attitude from:
- most SRT owners
- most jdm owners
And I'm not about street racing or shenanigans...
And at the same time I'm certainly not about being quick to judge someone because they come off a certain way - I'm more about accepting them for who they are, and giving them ample time (ect) to adjust to the group...
look this is completely up to us.... as jonathan said the balt isnt new anymore.... us as in the people posting today so far have a choice... either we continue down this road of bickering..... or we move forward to ensure that this club will continue for years to come.... like other groups in this city who are a strong community presence..... take your pick..... and yes this is a choice.....
look at this pic..... everyone in this pic is smiling having fun.... i will tell you right now no one asked the group to smile and say cheese..... we all actually had a good time.....
AND yes steve you won 2 trophies hahahahahah but then again that ss/na deserved it.... seems to me we both had a great day.....

I'll download the pic I snapped...
I was tinkering on the GA last night till just after 12am...
I really wanna get it back on the road.
Then just a couple minutes ago while thinking of working on the GA, my mind wandered...
Mark, about how much would a colour change set a guy back?

well as it sits the car needs paint...
it was just an idea...
I would wager the colour would drastically affect the cost...
Ideally I'd win the lottery and just have the car completely painted in a hue like this;
but the car does have ghey moldings which might be a PITA (but they can be removed)...
like I posted earlier, just thinking out loud.

we can make this happen for a reasonable price..... my question is what kind of condition is the clear coat? is it flaking away like a typical gm from the 80's? if it is intact we can make it work..... also there isnt much surface area so the amount of material will be min..... we can freshin up those moldings easy enough..... i have 2 full cans of flat black trim paint we can use.....
as in reasonable i am thinking dirt cheap as vinyl is concerned..... color like that isnt expensive

just a refresher on my GA (because there are no black moldings);
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/238820...ntiac-grand-am
the car is a california car;
I believe it was repainted within the first couple years because I see evidence of the drivers quarter panel having been replaced. There is clear coat peeling, but not the typical 1990's clear coat issue - this is really just that it got baked in the california high dessert...

i think its possible for a seriously low price..... my biggest concern is clear coat and those damn ridges on the top of the skirts...... you just need to decide if you can live with a blue car and red door jams..... however we can work the red, blue and a 3rd color in a 2 tone..... or not.... i think honestly if you decide to do it the car would look minty fresh.... and all the colors talked about are slightly more the white.... some of the most common colors we use.....

Hey guys I'm new to Calgary what kind of Cobalts do you all have??
Most of the old members all still have projects. I have my truck, jd has an srt 4, mark still has a Balt.
