So now its time for me to actually make my HID's look somewhat decent, and go with some aftermarket headlight assemblies. I know alot of people are talking about the retro-fit kits that you bake and do yourself. Personally, I dont really have the time or the patience to do something like this in the winter while I live in an apartment, so I am looking at built assemblies from the Modern Performance website, and was hoping to get some input if any of you have had them or know someone who has them.

Lights & Bulbs - Spyder CCFL Halo Projector Headlights (Black Only) 05-10 Cobalt
The first link here is the CCFL Spyder projectors. I dont know what CCFL is and what the difference is between the this link and the 2nd link, but I kinda like them in the black.

Lights & Bulbs - Projector LED Halo Headlights 05-10 Cobalt (Chrome Only)
These ones are just Projector headlights with the LEDs and Halos. I like the Halos, but am not a fan of the LED's, which if I am correct, I can choose to not wire these up but still wire up the halo's.

Lights & Bulbs - DEPO Projector Headlights (Chrome or Black) 05-10 Cobalt
These ones seem like the basic projector headlights offered by DEPO, and I have heard some issues with cracking or spidering if you dont use HID bulbs from the get-go, given the amount of heat given off by the stock bulbs.

What do you guys think? Or my other option is to buy the retro kit, and pay someone in Calgary/Edmonton to build them for me

Yeah, I was looking at pictures of the stockers painted black. I am just looking for exterior stylings that I can go black with do add to the color scheme in my head.

Evan, I have gen 4's you can see them in my sig.

No cracks on them anymore from what I've heard. I had HID's but one bulb broke and the other ballast died so I put halogens in. No problems so far. I like them but a retro is the way to go.

Do you have a picture of them lit up at night? That is what I am more concerned with. I like the look of the Halo's and the Gen4's, but the LED strip above the projector lenses concerns me.

*edit* oh wait, the Gen4's dont have the LED strip or the lights in them. Just the projector lens for lows, and reflector with H1 buld for highs right?

I think Im leaning this way as well after looking up a multitude of pictures. My only question now, is I have a 9007 HID kit in right now. If I want to swap the bulbs to HID's, instead of the halogens that come with, I would have to buy two H7 HID kits and wire them up after the fact, right?

Although, depending on how good the "Nokya" bulbs are that you can order separately, I might just go with a set of those as well and scrap the HID's I have in there right now.

CCFL stands for cold cathoide flueresent lamp. they are nice and bright, runs from 12v to ballast (ballasts are high voltage) to halos
I hade the exact set above, loved the halos and led, however the outer lens developed a billion little cracks in the plastic and was unrepairable.
I felt it was huge waste of money and headaches (which is why i built retros)
u can have someone build retros for you........
the light output blows from the crappy projectors that use h1 bulbs.
Thats my time with em, didnt even last a full year before they began developing the cracks.
good luck bro im sure u will be happy with whatever u end up decideing

By this, do you mean just H1's, or any projector with a halogen bulb in them like the 900_/H_'s. If I upgrade to HID bulbs, will this increase the light output?

H7 projector
H1 hi beam

as for your bulb question, since you already have the ballasts, all you would need is H7 bulbs or H1 bulbs.

i just ran the H7 bulbs and left the halogens in for the highs. You can wire the lights so when your on high beam, both the low and hi beams are on, plus fogs if you want. for that though id recommend the relay harness so you dont fry your stock harness
