Calgary - random talk thread
mine did a lil something weird too when i did the thermostat..... it seems to have settled out in temps but still kinda getting warm during a pull..... i am kinda letting it settle out and see how it acts in the spring..... i knowticed a 20 degree change in iat2 at the peak of a pull.... i even had jonathan datalog and nothing seemed to be abnormal when it was analyzed..... for some reason it will slightly stumble at 6800, but seems to be perfect through out the rest of the rpm range... there a few things i want to check when i decide to to the valve cover..... i also think its a bit of a mind trick because of winter..... going from warm to cold has to muck with either the car or your own mind....
i mentioned it coz im wondering what thermostat did you throw in? i grabbed one from auto value.... im curious to the quality of them..... i should have grabbed a ac delco....

@victoryredturbalt: I tested the theory with coolant temp and the cabin heater. I played a good game of car sauna on the way back from three hills to Olds, and here are the results:
Normal Coolant temp for me: 86-88 *C
Outside Air temp: around 0 *C
20 Min of driving with Heat and fan maxed: 95 *C (rising slowly the whole time)
I turn my HVAC off: back to 86 *C
So yes, against logic, the engine runs hotter while the heater is on. Hope this helps!

I too went cruising from calgary to banff back to calgary. now that the coolant is mixed,
-i avg 88-90c on the highway, no heat on.
-i avg 90-92 on highway, heat on.
-i avg 92-96 idling, redlights, traffic, stop and go, heat on
my fan turns on at 92c since the trifecta tuning, drives me crazy. what is yours scheduled to turn on @? anyone else notice the temp their fan turns on @?

Since you've owned a TC longer than most people out there, is it possible that the tune you were running was the original one set in 2007 when the LNF was first released?
The way that GM does it is, as problems are identified, and as seen fit the 'factory' tune is updated/tweaked/changed, and when a car goes in for mechanical service tech will reflash when made aware of the need;
I didn't personally observe a change with my fan 'on' spot from stock - then again, my car was probably built a year after yours, and went in for major mechanical repairs twice, then had GMS1 flashed, all before Trifecta;
All trifecta tunes are built off the specific tune that GM says is the correct one for that car at tge time where the order is placed...
I was also wondering if a temp sensor was maybe on the fritz....
