anyways there is a lil story to the smell of clutch. lol if you all remember tyler with white ford and dodge trucks. he has his ford out this morn. its a monster of a powerstroke. he calls me out on a lil race we been hashing out for the last year. hahahahahaha so i said sure im in. we creep on to 106 and get side by side. we both stomp a mud hole in the pedal. well i got zero traction so im roasting in 3rd side by side him. he's freaking laughing so hard he's crying but he couldnt believe how hard the car was going. we pull over and all you can smell is my clutch hahahahahahaha he's like damn i better go get my old mans vette the next time we try this. you would have smoked me.

i will probally just get my flywheel machined.

too cool.

cool.

If I could have, I would have ordered my car;
  • a/c delete
  • p/w delete
  • no sunroof
  • no spoiler
  • 'Jet Stream Blue' paint

Nope, another GM 'tuner', but like I said before, there are people on this site, with our cars who have broken them - and when they go, it can go south fast.
My current stance is not that they "can" go, but it's simply a matter of time before they go.
I believe another Cobalt SS owner posted in one of the facebook groups just last month of their flywheel going on them... and the guy was baffled, because he had never heard of this happening...

so you're saying you couldn't live with Dustin's car

I also like the sunroof, but considering how complicated it is, how it tends to (on average) leak or cause owners issues - and the (original) cost of the option - I would have not ordered my car with it.

On the other hand, when I was looking for my last car (the GA), it was a required option ~ then again those cars don't have ANY issues related to the sunroof save for the seal drying up over time...

Lol that's one of the reasons why I bought my car actually. I didn't even know you could get them without at the time. I like the look much more. And less BS.

I have an 02 Z24 for my second car and never seem to use the sunroof in it.

Its lighter, stiffer and cheaper without a sunroof. I use mine because its there but if I could choose I wouldn't have it

ok, that makes ALOT more sense;
No matter what you were told, I do not believe you could order a 2010 SS without the sunroof, because (in both Canada and the USA) that was an item that was standard equipment with the SS package;
But, it was not standard fare from 2005 through to 2009;
Unfortunatly, my personal observation was that dealers would order cars fully loaded - the only "variables" that they would sometimes have was:
  • LSD or no LSD
  • highrise, or small spoiler
  • "base" stereo, or top of the line stereo

The only options my car could have had added were:
  • spare tire delete; tire inflator kit
  • smokers package

I'm with you.

I love my sunroof, and use it all the time, but it certainly wasn't worth the $1,100 cost...

I really like the simple one in my Grand Am;
It has two "open" settings - both manual, no power anything to louse things up;
'vent', is doable while driving;
or, you while parked, it removes in seconds, and stores in a bag in the trunk.

For Canada, there were ZERO (factory) intalled options available - well I think the smokers package might have been an option, but does that count to anyone?

the highrise, all weather floormats, sport pedals, and a couple other things could be ordered with the car, but they were dealer installed items...

At one time I had the intention of learning HPT and tuning cars in Calgary. But then I moved to Red Deer and now I'm much busier with work. I bought 2 books to get up to speed on engine management and tuning. If you'd like to borrow them, let me know.

on a side note i am leaning closer and closer to putting the car on jack stands. i figure tomorow morning the car will disappear til im done. let the over haul start. sleep well edward.

If the oil dipstick pops up but once in a while, could there be a leak in the head gasket?

Are you supercharged? There could be pressure in the crankcase do you need a hand with a compression test?

Last night my car was detonating so bad and since I didn't have time to look at it i just took out my tune. Today detonation is gone and it feels faster on my stock tune WTF??? I NEED my hp tuners so I can get rid of the biggest waste or $900 I've ever spend in my life. I like how Hahn knew what I was doing with my car but still sold me a tuner tht wouldn't work with the parts I ordered. Oh ya I ordered everything all at once.
