building my motor and keeping my car is far from money. i really don't care about how much it costs me. its more for the fun of doing it and having something not many other people have. sure i could trade my car in, loose even more money then i already have and get a TC but where is the fun in that.
If you were not such a good guy, I probably wouldn't joke about it...
If anything, the only possible downside to my jesting might be that something is lost on people/locals who might only lurk here...
I mean how few even go to stage kits?
Forget "bolt on's" what I was meaning by my prior post is, lets say you can swing some deal where selling your car and buying a SC car "costs"* you $3k;
after a couple hundred more in either aftermarket, or stage parts, or tuning, you're sitting quite likely at more power than you can get the LE5 at (less any labour you might dole out for) for the same $4k(+/-)
(* = above anything outstanding)
Since I've come here I've become quite impressed with what some LSJ's are putting down - so the only times I might jest about getting an LNF would be purely because you can get them brand new at the moment ~ and I agree with you 100% that having a car with zero unknown history is worth something.
IMHO an LE5 is a much better car for a young driver, so I would think it should be an easier sale in the local market ~ which would might only help you "step up" to a 'level 4' car;
what ever year you might decide upon...
...
So did I hear right? ~ you're riding shotgun with me down to Lethbridge tomorrow tonight?

that turn can be hazardous what with the regular turn lane and the not-so-legal turn lane...
I went to wave, but by that time I was past you...
you will not see me tomorrow though;
all joking aside, I'm leaving work a little more than an hour early to meet up with my uncle in Lethbridge for supper @ 5:30,
so it's today or next week....
I'll do my best to watch for you today!

ok;
who here thinks that Steve couldn't get a smoking deal for trading his car aginst this one;
two factors that will hurt a dealer compared to selling his car:
- one year older
- higher mileage

Looks to me to be the right colours (all black)
P.S. it's listed as being sold by a dealer - so trading does become a viable option!!

ummm noooooo. i like my car as it is and will not trade it or sell it. end of discussion. and you guys forget about negative equity when you are factoring in everything, so i might get 8-10k for my car, there's still at the current moment 16k left oweing. so even at 10k i still have 6k of negative equity, most dealers sell the cobalts for around 8-10 add in the 6k i still owe and i'm right back to square one. trust me i've pondered this before, i know what i'm talking about in this particular debate. plus i've put alot of time and sweat into my car to keep it looking as good as it is not to just give it up so some dingle bat can **** it up

that was an awesome reply;
the term you used 'negative equity' is what I meant about more or less being upside down on a car;
so using your logic (of getting $10k for it) that would mean you would only need to dole out $3k - but I get what you're saying...
and I'll drop it...
for time being
have fun getting all sloppy drunk tomorrow night!

So we went on the Dyno today with T-Jay's car, but I'll let him come on here and post results, etc. We basically spent a couple hours tuning and doing pulls to see the power output. Stay tuned for results.
