soundjunky - dunno if i'd be able to go to that meeting/drinking thing saturday, could be a fun time tho and possibly be able to find out what the future holds for race city

Thx and believe me I wanted to take my fist to every window on his vehicle. Like had he just backed up I wouldn't have been wiser, but nope he had to be an idiot.
Also I got to clean my car to see if there's any other scratches that I haven't seen.

Steve,
Assuming the scratches are not too deep, if none of your friends at any dealer can help you out I have stuff to help - but I'd wager Mark (being a detailer) would be able to do alot better than me.

on word;
tire-iron
once a bumper shock has been compressed, it's junk;
look for scratches to indicate it has compressed, and will virtually fold up on the next impact.
I just looked on rockauto, but was left thinking maybe our cars don't have them...
but in any case, it's worth mentioning.

Ya everything seems to be surface scratches, I think what happened was when he parked, the trans still rolled a bit till it locked on the brake pin and hit my car.

^^ yeah but even in that situation the car rolls what, an inch?
he still was an idiot, and parked too close;
by doing so he showed a lack of regard for other people's property;
that sir, is why that kind of crap enrages me.

Oh ya I was pissed. Again if I was parked right on the yellow and this happened then its kinda my fault for parking so close but I was 2 feet away from the yellow. And I have way too much stuff in my trunk to get at the tire iron haha

re: Marks shop; that's tomorrow
I am not lugging cylinder heads there though;
If you want me to try to explain it with visuals, just call me, and swing by my place... I mean it's not like I'm far from you
besides, fabric portions of my car are all still 100% oil free... that's something I'd like to maintain.
I have probably nearly ten heads, most of which are bone stock;
iirc one has been fully ported (albeit lightly; I have almost exclusively run the best casting);
Another two have had some light port work in the exhaust side only.
The Quad4 heads use monster ports compared to the ecotec - this is attributed to why the engine can be so noisy, and had to go through several rounds of detuning to quiet down and eliminate NVH - to appease the automotive press...
By '95 (last year of the 2.3L) the Quad4 exhaust ports were right about the size of the ecotec ports, but still the reduced 2.4L (Twin Cam) intake ports were larger than the ecotec (iirc);
I think my brother has a Twin Cam head in my garage...
Just typing this makes me want to work on & drive my GA...

Since my mind is on cylinder head porting now...
I figured that maybe some flow numbers might interest you guys...
for comparisons sake, I found a while ago stock CFM flow numbers for the LSJ head I'll put it against the different Quad4 heads (I'm assuming the LE5 head would have similar numbers to the LSJ, but I would also expect the L61/LAP head to not flow as good);
@ lift = LSJ - 955 - 086 - 456
Intake side:
@ .100" = 76 - 96.7 - 73.3 - 77.0
@ .200" = 152 - 164.8 - 149.2 - 156.2
@ .300" = 217 - 230.2 - 221.7 - 222.6
@ .350" = 232 - 234.2 - 250.8 - 248.7
@ .400" = 242 - 239.3 - 267.0 - 261.4
@ .450" = 247 - 240.0 - 274.6 - 265.0
@ .500" = *** - *** - *** - ***
Exhaust side:
@ .100" = 73 - 68.2 - 57.1 - 67.8
@ .200" = 139 - 127.7 - 125.1 - 135.5
@ .300" = 156 - 149.5 - 167.7 - 164.5
@ .350" = 159 - 151.9 - 176.2 - 168.3
@ .400" = 161 -153.8 - 180.3 - 170.8
@ .450" = 163 - 160.0 - 183.2 - 172.9
@ .500" = *** - 170.0 - 205.6 - 197.7
legend:
*** = values not available
955 = 1988-1989 casting (150hp engines)
086 = 1990-1992 casting (150/160/180/190hp engines)
456 = 1994-95 casting (150hp engines 1994/1995 & 170hp 1994 only)
Actually you can all get something out of this info;
You know how some people scoff at certain mods hurting low end power (eg: Marks exhaust);
this is best exemplified by the exhaust flow numbers @ .100" & .200" lift;
see how the LSJ & 456 castings have the highest numbers there? - that's because the smaller port size aids in signal at the lower lift values, which in turn increases velocity...
This is quite similar to how a bigger exhaust, or port work will change things;
with a larger port, your low lift values are not as good, but it is leveled out by the better high lift values.
Now here's what ties it all together;
I have some numbers from one ported 086 head - this will show how the flow can change from port work (which when matched properly to other parts will yield higher horsepower potential);
@ lift = unported 086 - ported 086
Intake side:
@ .100" = 73.3 - 84.2
@ .200" = 149.2 - 164.8
@ .300" = 221.7 - 226.7
@ .350" = 250.8 - 250.2
@ .400" = 267.0 - 269.3
@ .450" = 274.6 - 286.1
@ .500" = *** - ***
Exhaust side:
@ .100" = 57.1 - 131.4
@ .200" = 125.1 - 139.7
@ .300" = 167.7 - 181.6
@ .350" = 176.2 - 194.3
@ .400" = 180.3 - 202.5
@ .450" = 183.2 - 207.0
@ .500" = 205.6 - 237.3

wow... Steve, I don't know that I would have been able to keep my composure over that one...
I applaud you.
seriously.
-------------------
OK, I actually came here just now to post something...
I was going to post earlier today to see if we could all get together in the short term... just because hanging out with all of you can be fun.
but then I got this;
If anyone is game, a bunch of us could go and realy just use it as an excuse to hang out.
I am interested to hear what might be discussed, but have less than zero interest in a gay dance...
Since I don't drink;
If this is a ticket drink deal (as in they give you 'x' number of tickets for free drinks, after which you have to pay) I you can play paper rock scissors for my tickets?
Although I am interested in going, I hadn't really planned on it - but if one or more of you would go, I'd be in.

ok guys...
I'm going out right now to buy my ticket for the dinner/dance.
If any of you want to go, I might be able to get them to hold tickets (and you pay saturday) - but call me if you want to come, and want me to arrange your ticket. 255 3582
