Hey Jeff ~ welcome to this little corner of the internet!

How far out "east"?
Sorry all, been a little busy the past little while and it's hard to sift through so many, um... random posts. Had a hard time finding the ones I made so I could continue!

Far east, as in Kitchener/Waterloo area. Ontario. I grew up in Montreal, moved out here with my parents in 1998, and most probably will be heading back out east so I can be with my wife-to-be. I won't get into specifics, but there's a child involved, not mine, deadbeat wanting to be super dad, and it's going to uproot me completely. She's worth it.

I don't seem to have the time as I did back in the day to peruse the forums, so I am quickly losing all of my conversations I have started, and free advice I've given out.

Oh, and I most certainly am missing out on calling on all the people's bullshit advice they give out on here, which I find humorous to say the least.

I'm not quite too sure why I went to school, and worked 6000 hours to become an automotive technician, as it seems EVERYONE on here is a mechanic. Geez, and all I had to do was come on the internet and be what I refer to as a 'keyboard cowboy'. Haha..

I'll see what I can do about trying to keep up more often.

I'll take the time this moment to give a little list of what I am doing, and plan on doing. Was going to put it in a more general thread, but there are a LOT of people on this site, so I decided to make it more concentrated to the people who are more relevant. Consider yourself lucky, everyone. :P

I have a 2010 Cobalt SS/TC. It's BLACK... not that metallic crap, but ebony, gangster, murdered out BLACK. And I plan on making this car as BLACK as I can.

Traded in my 2009 Jeep Wrangler on this little beauty as I couldn't stand the lack of power and inner-city driving any longer. I loved that Jeep, but it's pros did NOT, at ANY TIME, outweigh it's cons.

GM Stage kit was installed a month or so after I took possession of the car, as I had to wait for it. Great part was, the work order was written for the day I took possession, so it has become part of the powertrain warranty. I know I fix cars for a living, but I have no interest in fixing my own when I can have someone else do it for free. That being said, the few times I have had to drop my car off at the dealer, I've been so stressed some young, 1st or 2nd year 'Master Technician' is going to get my vehicle and not only bag it, but do a poor job. Catch 22 to say the least.

Installed Beamer's plug-n-play HID kit as I couldn't stand the lack of light from the factory headlights and have been very pleased with them.

Plans for the car... hmm. I am riding out the GMS1 as far as I can go, and I figure that's probably about 300whp with bolt-ons. I don't have delusions that the GMS1 will work well with bolt-ons, but we will see.

ZZP DP and catback
ZZP intercooler upgrade w/ charge piping
K&N SRI
Lots of external modifications... I have never been much for that crap before, and I don't mean bodykits. Badges have to go, having a near and dear good friend do LOTS of touches to both the exterior and interior. I will have pics for all, and if you like... I'll see what I can do about sending any and everybody his way.

That will be all for the time being, and after that I will see all about this 'Trifecta' tune everyone keeps raving about.

This will turn into a novel if I don't stop, so I'll give you a rundown on some of the past vehicles I've owned, so you can see where I'm coming from... 1985 custom big-block Buick Regal, 1994 Buick Regal Limited, 2000 Pontiac GTP, 1990 Plymouth Sundance RS, 2004 Dodge SRT-4 and 2009 Jeep Wrangler X.

All of the above vehicles were modified and stood out from the rest, to say the least.

Hey, and I think that's great! I love to trade technical jargon with other techs or teach people stuff that would otherwise cost them thousands of dollars and hours otherwise to learn.

But I'll tell you there are a lot of dumb things said on this site, and countless others, that lead people down the wrong path, and essentially wreck their vehicles.

We all want to modify our cars. That's why we're here. But I wish someone like myself told me many times, many years ago... Don't buy that, it's a waste of time. Or... You're going to want to loctite that bolt, it has a tendency of backing out. That kinda stuff.

oh i know what you mean but at the same time not everyone is perfect and they mean well for the most part. if i know something about the problem or have come across it then i will chime in, other then that i just give advice on diagnostic procedures or tell them to see a mechanic lol.

Oh, and please... anybody who reads this... don't just assume because I'm a mechanic, I will swap a motor for 'beer'. I don't drink much at all these days, as I used to, and even if I did and you want to offer me something... offer me money.

Beer is not currency for car work. :P

Precisely.

I was there for them all, rain or shine. Junkyard, driveways... you name it.

Then I had to move? Maybe someone would want to help? Nope.

Those days are OVER I tell you!

Ull understand when u click on a stance thread. There's a group of members and all it is one of them posts a picture and they pretty much jerk off to it and make homo comments towards each other. But if anyone outside of the like 5 of them post their car up they just hate on it.

And I've never posted/shown my car in those threads or anything so don't think I'm jealous or bitter. It's just gets annoying.

It's great to have something nice, and show it off, and have nice comments be made about it... swells the ego a little, right?

But at the end of the day... it's a car. Or it's a house. Or it's your wife's fake ***** you just bought her. Whatever.

10 years ago I felt a LOT differently than I do now... now I just care less, and yet, have more fun.

I really like my Cobalt SS, as I'm sure all of you really like your cars as well. But it's a Cobalt, haha... like get real. Smoke clutches, not crack!

... you can smoke whatever you like, bro.

But here's the way I see it. Cobalt SS, no problem annihilating tires factory.

BUT! If you're doing it right, and making enough power... then that clutch should be slipping, right? :P
