1) I have not had any luck to do my own tuning
2) there is no one offering tuning in Calgary for this scene; if I were to go this route, then no one would rely on my expertise per-say, but I'd be picking up the ball incase anyone wanted...
cool!
dealing with a dealer also give a degree of flexibility on tune-pricing... but I haven't cleared that out 110% just yet...
I actually would have signed up on thursday if not for two small factors;
1) that would have drained all my remaining "road trip" money
2) he didn't even have any spare cables to give me...
no, no stab at you...
Vince is not Canadian, but he did live in Lethbridge for a spell...
Have you signed up as a dealer? ~ it would be pointless for more than one local to be a dealer for him...
I only hear good things about the mustang shop - but like I said before, I have not been aware of anyone offering tuning for Cobalts;
Aside from the one guy who's currently in Australia, and then one other local who doesn't actually offer it anymore...
well it looks like we have a wiener!
From my end of things, he seems like a great guy, but it's no secret in this thread that he's pissed off some people... not me, but I'm just one guy - then there's the fact that having a local do the tune installs, and or updates, or reverting back to stock ~ would in my mind be a good thing for anyone not tuning a spare ecm.
yup, it's on the FB group as an event.
Mark (jrmotor) has the route pretty much pegged - I'll see this week if I can arrange for walkie talkies...
Care to email me to clue me in on exactly what's going on?
dude!?
Your car looked great when we met up last sunday! ~ what a kick in the nuts!
I'm hoping it's something top end that can be easily fixed... that's almost exactly what my eppisode of late was like...

I really hope that wasn't a stab at me?
Ya know it's really too bad I'm only getting on here and involved now, and not really sticking around. A good buddy of mine, and also the owner of the Mustang Shop here in Calgary is a great tuner. I spoke to him a week or so ago about the HPTuners software, of which he is quite aware. I had already planned on becoming a Trifecta dealer, and was hoping to had the HP software to that list, and using the Mustang Shop's dyno for any of you that wanted a real dyno tune, at a discounted rate. I've dealt with other tuning software in the past, and for all their differences... in the end, it's always the same thing.
Is Vince a Canadian guy? If so, **** ya!

My LE5 just blew up.
Was cruising in 4th at about 55 or so and it made a weird kinda sputtering noise, then I heard a BANG. It now makes a hell of a racket, a constant clanging noise... got it to the dealer, will know more on Monday.
Ideas for a new car? Really with the amount of money I've dumped into this one, I have nothing left. I need to go back to university, so I'll have to get a Civic or a Tib or something.

Soundjunky,
I just bought the EZ Flash Cable a few days ago from a forum member, I'm not a dealer or anything. He's just going to be doing a custom tune for me for a turbo swap.

Problem # 2 is alot of people dont understand the risk of tuning, they think if there car blows up its the tuners fault right away, a tune can only do so much and things can change and if you choose to ignore this things can go wrong, also when you push the envelope things will fail. |The old saying pay to play but most people on this site dont truly understand that.
Other options if you want someone like vince doing your tune is to get him to send you hp tuner flash and we can send him scans. save sending cable back and fourth, but i dont know if he will do things like this.
For any LSJ owners out there i have multiple custom tunes i have done, i have stage 2 tune if you want it, i have ottp 2.8/60's tune from when i bought there kit, and multiple others. As for cost on custom tunes, credits are 75 usd. Im not in it to make money, pay for the credits and buy me a case of beer per tuning session and im happy, biggest thing is flexability on timing as i have a busy schedule
yes, i dont take it on long trips as much now as my wife is pregnat and with all of the suspension mods its not the smoothest thing to ride in, but i daily drove it for last 4 years and also took it on trips for 3-4 hours one way with no issues. I have had better reliability since i started looking after it then when it was under gm's warranty haha. It doesnt go to the dealer for anything, except it will take a trip there for the bum power steering pump recall.
if you want a cheap car fo winter driver this next year i can sell youy a 1996 grand am, runs great, new tires. $500 Im going to buy a truck late this year off my dad for this winter

Yes! when I washes my moms car yesterday, it looked sooo clean after I wiped it down, clay bar said otherwise. It started out white and it's now a darker gray. Thing was filthy.

ya be careful with claybars though, use lots of soapy water and do it in sections. and do not drop it!!!! lol. i spent a few hours cleaning the interior and shining it up, looks soo good now

Ya the clay came with a spray on lubricant. I worked in sections of each body panel, so like hood all at once.
My parts are getting painted this week, so by the weekend it will be fixed

nice. ya the spray lubricant is alright, using your soap that your using to wash the car is just as good, just use lots and when your done in the section rinse it off afterwards to get all the residue and everything else off.

wait much longer then that, paint can take up to 8 weeks to fully cure, you can do the rest of the car but i wouldn't clay or wax the freshly painted parts.
don't mind the dirty carpets, those are being tackled next. just cleaned up all the plastic and gave it a nice shine.
the carpets are gonna be getting a full shampoo and scrubbing here in the coming weeks
