it's a good price - if I didn't already have a credit card balence, I'd probably buy another jug...
I teased him on both points.
that plug is now screwed... but it came out - to be replaced at next oil change.
sorry man I must have missed that post.. but in my defense sometimes it's easy to miss posts...
If I was to comit going right now, murphy;s law would state that I'll have family flying in on the 24-25th... lemme get back to you about that... (going to see if anything's already happening that I'm otherwise unaware that I'm committed to)

ya the price mobil1 is on sale is cheaper then what my cost is for it lol.
and ya its all good about the drain plug, it helps when you have a bigger assortment of tools as well. i wasn't trying to say it was him that caused it or anything because really he took it to shaw and well i know some of the guys that work there and lets just say they aren't exactly known to do things correctly lol

it was tight, but from my experience when somethings overtightened you just make that much more sure you don't goober things...
When a hammer was mentioned I shuddered a little...
I have seen where drain plugs seemed to be properly tightened then just from the heating & cooling cycles it seems to over tighten thems self...
frankly considering how long Jordan indicated he waited to change the oil - I'd suspect this was the case.
Plus, even if the techs at shaw did something wrong, there's no way he can prove it - and I would think that there's no way that they would do anything for him (other than maybe stare at him blankly);
So it's taken care of now.
hmm, below your cost huh?
What is your regular cost (ball parked of course) ~ if you don't mind me asking...
Maybe I should go pick up an extra tomorrow - credit card balance be dammed.

i paid $65 for 4.4L of castrol edge and a fram 6x protection filter.
but ya i used a open end wrench, that stripped. then i used a 6 point socket that stripped. then i used release-all and hammered the socket on, and used the hammer to tap it loose, it still stripped. so then i went to jonathans and somehow he managed to get it off. but ya ill get a new one with a magnet in it to grab any metal shavings. i guess it comes with experience as this was my 3rd oil change ive ever done.
i reeeeallly owe you something jonathan. you've helped me out so much.
man my teeth hurt... PAIN PILLS FTW!

@ Steve... hmmm, I think I'll pass this time around and focust just on getting that credit card balence wiped out...
I normally get Mobile1 from fall-apart for something like 40-45...

meh - wal-mart, er fall-apart can undercut most because of their business structure - they don't actually own anything in their stores; so they don't need to make a profit on an item they bought;
instead the manufacturer provides walmart with the merchandise then walmart takes a cut from the sales;
this is also why their return policy is so easy to abuse - because they don't eat any loss for returns - they are sent back to the manufacturer...
kinda makes it hard to compete against them...
then again oil is pretty cut throat to begin with;
there is an auto parts place here in riverbend for a couple weeks (he's not renewing his lease) - he never could compete with anyone's oil prices... but everything else he was fine on.

ya, there's a new oil thats just recently been marketed for retail called boss, 100% canadian and 100%virgin oil that is like half the price (for regular, they don't have a synthetic out for retail yet) but apparently they have been around in the bulk industry for quite a while

ya we carry their oil and apparently auto value is a test venture for them to get into the retail industry and see how well it sells. from the information i've been given on it they have been supplying shops and such in bulk for a long time now

i've always done my own and if i do 10,000k its no issue for me other then the oil is just a little dirtier. i try not to do 10,000km's though
