Castrol raceway south of Edmonton...
You have Medicine Hat dragway which is alot closer (2 hours for you versuse 5 hours to castrol) - but form the racers I spoke to this past summer, they all more or less described it as a bit of a podunk track - and stated how it was essentially deemed inferior compared to Castrol, or some of the closer state-side tracks...

well guys, I for one would be interested in a castrol meet next summer...
maybe we should make a thread for it - and kind of make it a planned GM-FWD/cobalt/ion type meet?

So it's confirmed I'll be in Calgary for sure the 25th-27th as I took the 24th and 28th off in case I needed the extra days for safe driving. Anybody want to do a meet on Friday night or Saturday? Mark what would be the best day to come to the shop if I wanted to get something done? Also need to see Eddie.
I was thinking there should be a WCCF next year..

they let their domain name/server contracts lapse... or at least it appears to be that way...
so I'm guessing after the 2010 flop, that western canadian coblats is dead.
maybe we could use the facebook group as the basis for such a meet?
right now the facebook group is a calgary thing though...
I'm game for meets, no matter how small scale...
I'd prefer saturday - but fridays work too....
Sundays I'm not so big on...
...btw if you find that "missing" watch ~ care to hook a brother up?
I could probably get a couple bucks for it at a pawn shop... would make at least one month of bills "Go away"

Hahaha I really wish I could find it, last time I had it was in Calgary I think(or Edmonton). It's probably in my car somewhere.
I was more so thinking a new spin and calling it "West Coast Cobalt Fest".
We used to do something like it in my Bonneville club where it's basically a couple of days and there's modding & tuning, dyno runs, and track day etc.
Anyways my bed is calling me now..

would work out best if you get the largest possible audience of like minded enthusiasts together;
the groups that immediately come to mind:
- j-body enthusiasts (j-body.org)
- delta enthusiasts (here, or any similar site catering to cobalts, g5's, or Ions)
(and believe it or not)
- Grand Am enthusiasts (gaownersclub.com)
the common bond that all these cars have are:
- J & N final years used ecotecs,
- all these cars were at least standard in base trim with a 4 banger,
- all these cars are universally rejected by v8/musclecar crowds
- all these cars are universally rejected by the regular 'tuner' crowd.
GM Tuners is a name that I think might work...
yeah it might be a bit of a rip-off... but meh ~ it fits.
