The cold isn't bad as long as it doesn't sneak into your house and make you cold at night.

maybe in the grand scheme of things it isn't but to me, right now... I hate it.

I'm just hanging out at my parents place. Nothing too special to do with almost a foot of snow outside

it's actually the reverse;
in the summer they're cooler - and in winter they're warmer;
overall they're more moderate, and less proned to temperature change...

in the summer the upstairs gets stuffy and hot (heat coming from outside);
in the winter the upstairs gets colder fast from heat loss (windows ect)...

any exposed concrete/brick will irradiate the ground temperature - which is generally cool...
many older (read 1950's and older) homes would have "cold storage" rooms which would take double duty as a ecco-friendly fridge of sorts...

^^^this

I've done real cold;
I'm from Winnipeg, and even though I have lived most of my life here, I moved there after High School, then took a year of college about 50km north of Saskatoon... on a year making records for crappy weather....

granted neither is a polar cap ~ but cold, is cold, is cold...

I don't care what's colder than what, or where... this right now is wayyy too freaking cold for me.

@ Struttin - dude, that sucks.
were I in your shoe's I'd be crashing at a buddies place... or spending the whole freaking day in a mall - then coming home with a space heater, closing my bedroom door with said space heater on (in a safe place) with plenty of blankets on...

yuck...

speaking of cold in different places;
my friend moved to New Zealand for a couple years;
and she told me that they don't insulate like we do, and they don't have forced air furnaces like we do - so even their version of winter was bone chilling to her (a Canadian) because during winter no matter where she went, she couldn't get really warm...

yuck.

...

oh yeah, I had a nice relaxing and totally unproductive day today (unlike Steve) - and I managed to cap it off by getting myself into trouble... my whole family is doing Christmas at my place this year.
