Smell your exhaust, check if your in open loop through a scanner, measure the resistance through your O2 sensor or read the voltages from it.

I have HP Tuners which can tell you everything but it's in Lethbridge.

Running rich won't ruin your engine for a while. Smell your oil, if it smells like gas do something about it ASAP. It takes a lot of rich driving before you start washing the cylinder walls.

yeah Jordan, there's ALOT, and I mean ALOT of misinformation spread here...

did you get the muffler shop I suggested give you a quote on repairs?

did you even bother phone around for a replacement?

Doesn't someone here know where Kris's Cobalt is?

It has, or had a shorty header, and a replacement downpipe...

It should be able to tell you o2 voltages and open loop operation on the VCM Scanner portion.

I'd bank on it being stuck in open loop due to a crapped 02 sensor if it's running that pig rich (my car did this. 11:1 AFR on the highway ftl!).

I forgot that Steve...

I also forgot that he figured it wasn't his downpipe ~ but the cat section of the exhaust...

I just remembered his post from crawling under the car, and eventually banging on the cat to verify what Will suggested...

Flying no. Driving yes.

My panic disorder would never make it through the mountains at this time of year.

if that's the case, do yourself a favor, and don't ever opt to drive (even shotgun) on the Pacific Coast Highway - it is a bit hairy at times... side of a cliff kinda hairy...

@Stink - Yes it said "edit" he never changed it. He wanted to ask me something before posting what he wanted to post.

Jonathan summer time I'm never bad when it comes to driving. When it comes to winter suddenly I have fears like no bodies buisness

It was always meant to say edit. It was originally a joke then edit.

Rightfully so, although it is an amazing drive in the winter and the roads are fine right now.

Oh but it sure is purely amazing, and probably saved me from winding up in a mound of snow.
