that's pretty much what happened. they didn't have the economy to back the amount of money they were printing. That's why germans would give wheel barrows full of money for a loaf of bread

the printing (and subsequential devaluing of currency) was under the watch of the Weimar Republic - which was the German national identity between WWI, and the start of the National Socialist's reign ~ which totally restructured their economy;
starting with a re-boot of their economy;
The prior, and Weimar Republic "Deutsch Mark" (German Dollar) which was originally backed by gold was replaced with the "Rentenmark";
The problem with the Deutsch Mark was that after WWI all of the economic backbone of Germany was either dismantled, and shipped off as war reparations - or simply taken (as in a part of he geographic country which was awarded to France). When this happened the Weimar Republic now owed more money than they had in gold - and they also not longer had the means to rebuild, and repay war debts...
The Rentenmark was technically unofficial, a temporary currency that was backed by agricultural or value of work... kind hard to explain it...
Anyway after about a year this served to stabilize the economy, at which point the National Socialist's reinstated the an official 'Mark' (renamed the 'Reichsmark')- which until the VERY last days of the war was actually never simply printed ~ even occupied countries were given an official exchange rate which was deemed fair as it reflected pre-war values...
If you didn't know, I collect coins... and this is actually something I've taught myself over the last couple years ~ and around here this info seems to be a bit tough to come by... let alone find production numbers or values on!
I have some Old Deutsch Mark's, even fewer Rentenmark's, and even some Reichsmark's...
One of which is a one sided 'Einhundert Million Mark' - which is literally a 'one hundred million dollar' bill...
It's actually surprising how advance the WWI & prior paper money is...
ok... that's all.

learning about hitlers rise to power was pretty cool.
how he got mustard gassed in WWI then he started a coup in Munich and he was arrested, tossed in jail, where he wrote Mein Kampf and no one took the book seriously. then he joined the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party (****'s) and gained power through his brown shirt (a.k.a followers) through force beating his opponents and he was the best speaker of the party so they elected him the leader. then he was appointed chancellor by President Hindenburg and when Hindenburg died, Hitler became Prime Minister, then through elections he became the president. then he used the Enabling Act which gave him totalitarian control over the gov't and he used the enabling act to keep his power from 33-45.
just a lil history on the Fatherland
he also had the reichstag burned down and blamed it on the communists and gained even more popularity from it

Especially when it becomes a safety problem, some moron had ribbons and bells and other crap draped over the back of her car, blocking the tails.
