wow.
unless you're stock, you're not going to be fast enough to require a helmet;
and even then you might need a little more than a tune to break into the 13's at this elevation...
You have to be kidding me!!?!?!?!
You're getting heat soak today??
What can your car only run on days where it's cooler than twenty degrees??
.
..
...
That was sarcasim - your car should not be getting heat soak.
wow... I came here to see three disappointing posts...

do you not have any cooling mods at all? you won't need to replace the intake gasket if you're doing the dual pass, unless you're an 06 with the old flawed gasket.
I would recommend slapping a meth kit on while you're at it. you won't regret it.

for the future.... they dont make you wear helmets at rc unless you break 14 seconds.... and remember to the turbo guys.... rc is slower then castrol. so it is hardr to get below 14secs. it was a awsome time last night and you all missed the best meet we had since wccm09...

True that. Would have been more fun with more of us there, regardless of whether you ran or not. A few cobalts, and three yellow ones, which was cool cuz that is the yeti color of the cobalts...

WOW!!
I just checked what I might have run at a lower elevation...
according to dragtimes.com my best run was done with a density altitude of 4839ft;
with E/T correction (I am unclear on how much correction a car like mine would get)
since my car is not "extensively modified" (the more wild hte car is, the less subject it is to correction factor), that puts me about on par with the 13.7(+/-) that Road & Track posted - and I didn't employ any no lift shifting either!!
(I haven't even figured everything out on my car yet!!)
nice!!
so when are we doing a Castrol meet?
Mark - you in??

on the track you don't have to worry about any of the stuff that would have to on the street - you can let it all hang out, and not worry about getting into any trouble...
You did great!
I had no idea (probably missed it previously) that your car had anything done to it;
it for sure was running faster than I would have thought!
then there's the fact that you were running faster than the other SS/TC that chickened out early on...
It's too bad I'm busy for the next three consecutive weekends (two of which I'll be in Winnipeg, the third I should be in Great Falls), other wise I'd be all in for a Castrol meet before installing my stage kit.
Unfortunately, odds are we're going to run out of nice weather before we can all meet @ Castrol ~ which means I'll probably have the stage kit installed beforehand.
After the stage kit, I'll be done with this car for several years, and be back to messing with other cars, while using this exclusively as a fun (summer?) daily driver...

Last year i had a 17+ second run because my clutch slipped so bad on a second to third shift(thought i was going to have to be towed off as it wouldnt hook back up). When i was 1/8 mile bracket racing a month ago i babied it all day and then i was in second round of eliminations and they just prepped and soon as i dropped to 2nd it hooked ujp to the track and spun the clutch. I will be installing new clutch this month and hope to break low 13's by end year. 80k out of stock clutch isnt bad for power im pushig i figured

a bunch of towns do 1/8 mile racing, just have to hunt around,usually on airport runways)

I took some comfort that my 04 Grand Am was faster then a 2.4L auto coupe that I saw at the track. Kinda knew that already though...
What was your uncorrected times (just post all info from the slip )

the air quality wasn't ideal - I was a couple MPH off my 100.xx mph trap speed which I pulled in late May when I first went...
I had long heard that these cars (as well as C-SRT4's) were seen doing a best of 14.4 in stock form at race sity;
and considering I beat that by 1/10th, I consider it pretty good... and case closed for now...
this isn't my strip car, the GA has that role ~ unfortunately I still have to complete the exhaust on it...
(btw the new goal with the GA is now an uncorrected 14.3 - which might be tough to pull off considering that's 9/10ths faster than my current best)
