Anyways... I found out who owns the 'slipknot' SS/TC. It's a guy I know from my hometown. He had a red 2.4 before, and traded the uber-bagged thing in on the TC.

Yup... I'm alive.
Mostly been on RLF and HPT forums.
The VNC works great and all... but the connection at work isn't fast enough to stream like I'd hoped.

does the car need to be taken to a dealership or mechanic to have the CEL turned off? Mine came on after i did an oil change on the weekend, i'm about 90% sure it's from a sensor i unplugged to get better access to the filter that i had trouble reconnecting at first

 

No, it should turn itself off after a couple of restarts. But i'm not positive. I did that too, left the sensor unplugged, then plugged it back in when i seen the CEL. I had OnStar run a diagnostic to see if it was anything else, but it wasn't.

 

yeah, i wouldn't mind getting it checked though anyways, and have a feeling i'd have to pay if i take it in somewhere just to get checked

 

Yea, i think the dealers hit you with an $80 scanning fee or something... might be able to hit up Raptors or Rippen, i'm sure they have a scanner.

It depends on the code.
Some will go away after X times with no faults. Others will stay on longer.

Anyone with HPT, a Tech2, or any other OBD2 code reader can read/clear the codes.

Soooo my car is still at the dealership, going on 5 weeks now. Still waiting on 2 synchros for the tranny. Can anyone dazzle me with their tranny knowledge and tell me what the hell these things do?

 

**** up apparently!! Think mine is fuct too. Hard time finding 1st and reverse as of last two weeks.

 

The synchro's are exactly what they sound like... they synchronize the engagement dogs on a conventional transmission.
It's kind of hard to explain how they do their job... you kind of have to see it to get it.

I kept losing 2nd, sloppy gears and bending roll pins.

 

yeah some times mine wont go in 1st or reverse till i pop it into any other gear than it goes in i dont know why is that what ur guys is doing?

 

anyone want to read my CEL, or perhaps know a place that won't charge me too much for that?

 

Here is a few questions for the guys losing gears....
Are you;
Downshifting into 1st while moving?
Downshifting without 'rev matching'?
Regularly shifting fast?
Regularly shifting hard?

 

its just when im starting out in 1st or reverse is when it ***** up and shift slow normally and dont know i should probably take mine in

no for all those. Was shifting fast and hard before so I let off til i bent the roll pins on 2 more occasions

 

It's the 1st gear synchro's not completely lining up... usually happens when coming to a complete stop and trying to place the trans back into first. Both my redlines have done this. If you let the clutch all the way out and depress it again it will go into gear.

I can read those codes for you if you want. I'll be around this weekend.

Sorry to say it but I told ya so. I don't think mine was over 5 weeks and I had the whole trans rebuilt except 5th.
