Western Canada Cobalt Meet 2009 - Registration & General Discussion Thread
#154
Hey guys, back from England - awesome trip. Took 1100 pictures... I've gotta sort through them then I'll post some up. Anywho, I'm sending out the first batch of packages out on Friday. If I don't have yours by Thursday evening you won't get your package until May 1st at the earliest. Remember registration closes on May 22!
As for tuning, I don't think that will be easily accommodated at the track during the meet. Sorry. I'd love to get something like that going, but we can only do so much.

I think everyone knows that tuning is impossible at the track and the shop will not bring their equipment out to do it. Chad what do you this of having a tuning shop sponsor us, most all of the work is done but they would offer to run baselines at the track? let me know what you think.

Sponsorship is really welcomed! makes our cost that much cheaper. How would they sponsor? If we voted the car with the most potential, would they win a free/discounted tune? or rather a discount on a tune for everyone who attended? or would they just shell out some money to get their name on our meet? i'm interested!

There's a shop in edmonton, one in red deer too I think. But then a few members on here do tuning too I think.
A quick update: Sending out registrations to all those registered and paid as of Thursday 23rd April. I'm thinking about extending the registration dead line. If you know of somewhere that will donate decent prizes or cash, let me know. I may send you out on a mission! Any money we can scrounge up will be used towards prizes, possibly a trophy or two. I want to make some of this a competition so some of us can take home something more than just a decal. As for anything else, I haven't gotten many registrations in in the last 10 days (I'm shocked) so if you're holding out for some reason, get your ass in gear!!
just to get a few people excited.

yeh well i am going to take a little more to the tuning show and see what they have planned. Just remember that this is all tentative and nothing has been set, etc. For Rob we all know that tunning came be done where ever, if you have a big enough kitchen and bay doors you could do it there. They WILL NOT tune at the track, simply because they would rather run baseline and most of all would rather tune in their shop

As far as people not registering, I would highly suggest someone PM each of those who have not registered, to let them know about this. I for one rarely check in here and learned of registration just today.

i will see if i can get some prizes ( May just be some vests/spring jackets and golfing stuff?)
How does everyone feel about throwing $20 buck into a pot when we get there for prize money for best car/fastest car etc......just a thought
( I know money is tight for some so this may not work)

You would have to think of better catagories... ie closest to perfect launch without redlighting ect

I had wrote a nice post about this ten minutes ago but the site went down for maintenance.
I've got a few ideas:
Best in Show
Best on Track
Fastest ET (categorized?)
Fastest Speed (categorized?)
I had one more but I can't remember what it was.
You heard him. Be afraid. Very afraid.
I will be in the next day or so. All RVSP'd members that have not registered will be getting a PM. This is a pain for me because I can only send the PM to five members at a time.
Probably because you registered first?

Plus I think we have to be careful, because this is almost starting to look like gambling. I'm not sure of the laws though. We may want to check into it. If the extra was part of the entry fee that would be different.

LLP & OverbooSSt --> I would like to know when you guys are meeting up and what time you will be able to make it into red deer! If i know that we can all meet up and everyone can make it into Edmonton together

I'm not a big fan of throwing more money into the pot for awards. That is gambling as far as I know (check the AGLC for that). I was thinking any left over money would be used to buy prizes.
