I didn't see you! You shoulda texted me, I would have been happy to meet up with you. I met up with Denny from Castrol, and a few representatives from the Mopar club (edmontonmoparclub.ca). The site is down. They seem like a nice bunch, I'm not expecting competition though. The guys I saw were all in their 30s-40s.

ahahaha! I know Let me know what they say. I'm happy to see if I can figure something out.
Yeah... Denny was kinda shocked to meet me. He expected someone older. So did the Mopar guy. "Yeah, I'm organizing the meet." "What? Really? ....really?"

That's funny! It's good to see though, i know many people can't take responsibility for anything! It's good to see youngins running things from the get go!

haha, "youngins".
Thanks guys.
Another update though: Talked to Mack the president of the Edmonton Mopar Club today. He called me just like half an hour ago and we talked for a good twenty. Really nice guy. Their objective is the same as ours: go out and have fun, get some racing in. They're not planning a show and shine, but just the racing. As Denny said, they will not be coming for free to the Monster Jam, nor will they be camping over. Just us. They're there for the racing and that's it. 2pm for the beginning of racing is sounding difficult for them. Being some work, etc. But I'll be firing him an email here in a few hours with some of our basic details on what we've planned so far. He's also wondered about meeting up with some of us (Edmonton, central alberta guys) to get a feel of what we're like to make sure they want to share the track with us. Does that sound decent? They're all guys just from Edmonton, so if we met up at some Timmies or did an Ikea meet... yeah? Opinions!
Is there anything I should be asking him in my email? I've told him none of us should be running anything faster than a 10s. He's expecting some of the guys to be running 7s max. The street mopars probably around 13-16. So competition? Yes.
just recieved.
Thanks guys.

excuse the ignorant import driving ******* that hangs around here but umm... what? i dont get to pick who i share the track with on any other night racing... i'm down for an edmonton meet, but wow does that come off as arrogant.

Yeh I'm with him on this ^^^^ You guys realize that there is going to be at least 160 cars here. Seems like running street legals the night before would be better than this...
#212
just doing the rough math here but:
assuming we can run 2 cars every 60 seconds
4 hours = 240 minutes x 2 cars/min =480 runs
480 runs / 160 cars = 3 runs/car
i take it we cant run any later b/c of monster jam, but if we have this many cars coming should we maybe consider running cars earlier?

160 cars is wayy more than I'm expecting. Holy ****. No, it's gonna be like 100. The Mopar guy I think has decent intentions, but it doesn't matter if they come or not.. Denny gave me the price: $25 per car, $10 per spectator. No going back on that if they decide to drop out. But it would be cool to have some of them Mopar guys out. I personally don't think we need to meet up with them before. Especially if it's out of the way for some of us. (*cough* me *cough* ) So don't shoot the messenger. I'm only passing on what he discussed with me. I didn't say any kind of answers back, it was more of a brainstorming, getting a feel of what they wanted to do vs. us.
#214
i wasnt trying to rag on you chad, and i hope your right about how many cars show up. but for street legals pricing, i would hope to get in at least as much time as a friday night (i know we're getting a good deal but i can try right?). even on the first night after race city closed up (400+ cars according to the tech's) i got 5 or 6 runs in. i dunno, maybe i'm more of a track junkie than most, but we all pay to play so the more playtime the better IMO
#215
Yeah. I'm trying to get as much in. Mack the Mopar guy said in previous years, with 60 cars most were having a hard time keeping up with the track because they were wanting to cool down after but couldn't because there was so much opportunity to race. so that's promising.
#216
Well I hope that you are right, and hopefully they are not bring a million people. It would be nice to pay 25 bones and race without them. If they didn't come we could run our group for the 4hrs and it would be really easy to line each other up because i am sure that there is a lot of people who want to race specific cars.... i dunno though i'm not organizing it, but Chad you are doing an awesome job considering the complications and effort
#217
correct me if i'm wrong, that seemed like it was that guy feels we can't run with those cars. with guys like jordan, matt, rob, and daedlus on our group we have very compitive cars. the mopar guys should just sign the dotted line and a good time will be had by all. we are no different then them. we are all car lovers, respect and appreciation for both muscle era and tunning era wil insure a great time will be had by all. i myself can't wait for this meet and lookin forward to seeing other balts and mopars doing what we do best. that is producing some sweet rides on and off the track.
#218
Yeah, for sure. There's other guys that want to race some of the Mopar guys, too. So I'm stuck! It's hard to make everyone happy. But them Mopar guys.. he said the last time they had a drag race meet they had 25 ish cars show up, and then a couple others that caught wind of the meet. Like Mark said, we're all there to be there and have fun and race. So at the end of the day, like I told him, I think we'd be great to share the track - just because we both want to go out, have a good time, do a few runs down the track, and drink a few beerskies (not me, but all those adults out there. ) But the track knows that if we share the track with the Mopar guys, that we both have paid equal into the pot for the price of the track, so we will get the time that we have paid for. No problem with that.
#219
Ha ha... I don't think we will be able to race all day in segregated groups. There will be some "trash" talk and friendly grudge matches will form. There will be guys on both sides that will want to run against the other "team".
Personally I have always wanted to run a Charger SRT8. *stock *

personally i would like to run against a 60-70 charger or something that is close to stock. with a owner who is to proud and goes on and on about there's nothing like old muscle to get you down the track. you all know the guys i'm talkin about. then smoke him. hahahahaha, that would be fun and maybe wishful thinking. lol

Hey guys! just thought I'd let you know a batch of packages will be sent out tomorrow! I've still got to get back to the Mopar guy, I'm just going to send him a PDF of our package.
