06 Cobalt SS/SC Vs. 88 MR2 S/C
Just wanted to know who you guys would think would win a race between a 06 SS/SC with stage 2 and cat-back. And a 88 MR2 S/C. The MR2 has less hp but is lighter than the cobalt. Thanks

here's the thing, from a former MR3 driver. that car is a potential monster.
the 4A-GZE engine is wonderful, light, responsive and shockingly torquey.
the issue is that it's 20 years old, and most of them are not well maintained.
on a road course, he'll rape you if his car is set up right, in a drag you'd rape him.

Yeah I saw it has like 145 HP stock, but they are pretty light. Im not sure what performance mods he has on it. I will have to ask him. I am the one with the cobalt he is talking about by the way... Its a sharp looking car, I think it has over 100k on it. I was just wondering how they perform. Im sure the fact its rwd would help in launching purposes. When we ever to go out and run, Im sure it will be from a roll most likely.

ya i have the mr2 it has a hks intake and dual exhaust. if i wasn't going to be selling it for money for a cobalt i would put different pulleys to put boost from 8 to 13.5psi. I think i would no doubt beat him even from a roll with that change.

My buddy just sold a mint condition one, and I will say the SS is faster from a roll. Off the line your SOL because those things hook-up like crazy on just street tires. He used to hit 1.8 or less 60 footers with 205/50/15 Nitto NT450's.

Yeah he has good toyo tires on it with aftermarket rims. I believe it has 215s or 225s not sure. I do know the rear is wider. Yeah i figured with it being rwd it wound hook up like crazy. Im sure when we run it will be from a roll. I just wasnt sure how they ran. I know mine feels like it pulls pretty hard in 2nd with the Stage 2.
