Dragster blows up @ 310 mph

Checkout this clip on CNN.
The driver lives to talk about it.

That is pretty insane. I hope I never get to checkout if my cage works that good
Now think of how much money blew up in that clip.

The front wing ripped off and that let the car get air under the front end and up and over he goes! Thier have been worse wrecks that people walked away from but to my knowledge this may be the first car to lose its wing mid-race like that.

I wasn't able to turn the volume up because of work, but was it stated if this was a negligence issue w/ the failure or just a mech failure that calls for re-engineering a specific aspect of their setup?

Im sure the car was top notch. I think there reaching the limits to what that design of car can take. I couldnt see the wing come off but I have seen them just fold up like that because the frame couldnt stand up to the accelaration and power and just break. They are gona have to change thoses cars up if they wana go even faster than what we all wish we could go just once

That was a pretty bad one, reminds me of Cory Mcclenathan's crash as well as Larry Dixon's:

I have alwasy wondered how someone could have lived through this one though:

Yeah, I've seen a couple of top fuel cars break in half on tv lately. Seems like they break right in front of the engine then go airborne. Scary ****, good thing they have such a strong roll cage.
