Are the NT555R enough to hold 350whp?

I am looking for a new tire that will hold my current power levels. I am fully bolted, ZFR 22psi, 4.45 final drive, yyz springs, drag bags in the rear, rotated mounts, and powell CAB.

I currently am running nitto 05 (street version)

I can not hold any power in 1st or 2nd gear. So, I want more traction.

I would like to get the NT555r if it will hold 350whp on the street in 1st and 2nd gear.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Do I need a more aggressive tire, like the NT05R drag radial?

haha i have the same issue in my TVS car. no traction anymore with my nt05's. I have the same power #'s just less trq.

What are you looking to use the tires for ? Yea a drag radial will keep the tires planted better but i wouldnt recommend driving around on them.

Look at NT01's and R888 Proxies. Just rememeber they are going to wear much faster than nt05's.

My recommendation, depending on your usage, buy 2 spare wheels. Put the beefed up tires on them and swap them out when you plan on racing.

Thats awesome you have a TVS and the same hp. I have a love hate relationship with turbos lol. I wish my power came in more linearly and not exponentially, I dont always know when I am going to spin.

I will only use my tire as a daily driver and I want to hook from a stop. I drive 16miles total a day and want to may my drive fun. When I try to launch from a stop, I spin through 1st and 2nd. I dont care about turning so I am going for a drag radial. I have narrowed my tire down to the NT555r and the NT05r. I would like to get the NT555r because of the longer tread life, but if its going to spin 1st and 2nd then I will have to go for the NT05r. Some RWD big hp guys are getting 5k out of the NT05r. I am guessing the NT05r will last me longer because I have less hp and I weigh less.

So basically does anyone know if the NT555r can hold 350whp in a FWD car from a stop?

sorry man but at 350whp and the torque our cars make you arent hooking much of anything in 1st and 2nd lol. set of slicks would be your best bet haha. set your 1st boost to a lower setting and then 2nd gear as well and then all out in 3rd and 4th lol

i would not DD on a radial. just my $ 0.02.

From a dig on the street your going to have a lot of trouble hooking up no matter what you have on there.

Driver mods also help. you need to learn the car and how to get it going with the least amount of spin. Punching the throttle is not going to help lol

pretty sure the 05r's dont come in any smaller sizes that would fit our car. 555r's do

I'm on nt01s 70% 1st gear 85 up to 90% 2nd gear (which is too much i apin at the end of the gear)

The key is a smooth launch and it holds this is also on 481hp

Ronn- I have 245-45-17 555r's mounted to spare wheels. My experience with them is that they are better than any street tire I've had including the advan neova ad08R's that I'm on now. They will hook 2nd pretty quick, but do spin a little ( I've got tons of torque). Nothing will hookup your setup 100% unless it's a full blown slick. The 555rs wear impressively well as I have driven them back and forth from the track twice and put about 7 passes on them and they have barely any wear. Wish you were close to me I would sell them to you for $300 with the rims. Btw just like any r compound tire or slick you have to store them inside during cold weather ( if it's cold where you are) so they don't get harder compound. Lots of people don't and that's why they weren't as good the 2nd year as they were when they were new.

Nt555r
380whp
290ftlbs
4.05 LSD
7900 RPM
if its not cold out it doesnt break 2nd gear. Tonight i was having fun breaking 2nd mid rpms but still pulls even when spinning. These are awesome tires.

Lol 1st

Hey thanks guys..... Well, I'm leaning towards the nt555r or the nt01. I feel the nt05r is to dangerous to drive for a daily drive incase I get caught in the rain.

Now I only care about launching on the street. Which would hook up better, the nt555r or the nt01? Does anyone have experience with both?

Oh yeah I live in Florida so cold weather is not really a concern for me. You all should move down here year round racing.

Thanks man, yeah I already have 17in rims but the nt555r s would be cool. However I want to go stupid big and get the 275-40-17. I will have to grind down the metal lip inside the fender little. The 275s probably won't make a difference but I figure why not give it a try and see what happens lol.

This I know, but I don't see a street tire out launching a drag radial.

I live in Florida. Where are you at in Florida? I'm on a 25psi tune and I use continental extreme contact DW summer performance tires. Works good for me. I've gotten better. Smoother launch and then pedal first (always will spin in the top of first) and then 2nd gear you gotta gradually increase throttle. Not too slowly but slow enough to hook. I haven't had that much of a problem hooking up on these. I took off from a light one time so fast these one dudes pulled up at the next one and had only one word to say "badass".

And then one guy tried racing me and asked if it was a v6 that was funny

You will be hard pressed even going to get a 275 on there. The 245's are close.

LOL your right.... however I do have 275s on right now. I get a little tire rub when I turn in reverse, but nothing horable.
