First and formost, I want to say that I have a lot of respect for these cars, so this is not a Celica bashing thread....

Last night I pulled up beside one going about 40mph on an open road in Brandon Fl. We both down shifted in to third (at least I'm almost positive he down shifted, it sounded like it). I will admit that I was the first to punch it, but he reacted about as fast as you could. And eventhough I punched it first I expected the GTS to take me pretty quick becuase of the horsepower advantage he has, and the fact that we were going from a roll...? But I started pulling on him pretty good, maybe a half a car length from 40-70mph then I let off. It was a really nice car, white with a CF hood, it was lowered with black rims, looked sweet. I'm just wondering if this really was a GTS, or maybe just a GT with a GTS badge, just doesn't seem possible to pull like that on a car with 30 more horses and a high revving engine made for high RPM's..

I have a LS with a injen CAI....in any case, it was definitely fun....

 

Good Kill, they have no torque. I believe it. They run if your lucky a low 16 high 15 though I have seen some run mid 15's

 

do they have 30 more hp to the wheels or at the crank??? it could be similar to how the s2000 has 240hp at the crank but only 210hp to the wheels... that could be a factor, but who knows, im no tech

 

from your story it sounds like it could have been auto and the Celica has one of the slowest ones out there ..

a celica gt-s stock puts down about 160 whp and only if they land lift (above 6000 rpm) , i had an auto gt-s and it ran a 17.8 1/4 mile at its fastest so much for 180hp and 130 tq it had lol

i hate cops, they pull us over for tint or something stupid while they could be stopping a drug deal saving someone from getting raped etc. i have no respect for traffic cops, now detectives and swat and fbi cia types of cops i can give them respect

 

It is Gay, but it's their Job, they don't make the rules, but you car correct, they don't have to enforce it.

 

I feel the same way. Traffic cops are useless ********, not to mention a waste of tax dollars.

If you agree that pulling people over for stupid crap (as you so elegantly said early when calling it "gay"). Then why post something in this thread. If pulling someone over for stupid crap is "gay", then wouldn't posting a reply in defense of something stupid (as in hopeing cops come to this board so we can get pulled over for stupid crap) be considered "gay" as well......

 

it was probably a gt but it could have very well been a gts. he might have not downshifted to a low enough gear(it is a 6-speed if it was a stick) or it could have been a auto and it just didn't get into lift soon enough.
