i mean you can no lift shift any car realy. when you hit the traction button 2 times to competative mode, it puts in launch control, so i mean it works, idk.

You can NLS without pressing the button as well... as long as you are close to redline you can do it!

If you don't do it properly or quick enough is when you run into problems...

it's like any car and any model some are great some are junk...

yea like i said, ad long as the traction is off, you can NLS just about any car... the competative mode is really only the launch control...

Broken shift linkages result from people trying to shift too hard, not some defect in the car.

what is WOT? yea, its like the new GTR, the tranny cant take the launch control and blows, and then the dealer wont fix it. in the fine print it says if you use it and it breaks, its not under warranty. and they can look in the computer to see if you used it. so i hear...

Its not NLS that breaks your shift linkage. If you NLS'd and you misfired and it fucked something in your engine up its NLS's fault. If you NLS and break a shift linkage that has to do with your shifter.

Dont give the LSJ guys a foot in the door to say rediculously dumb ****. They just wait for a TC to have a problem so they can say "OH THANK GOD I DIDNT THINK ABOUT TRADING IT IN" or some gay bullshit

Before it was called no lift shifting, it was called powershifting or speed shifting. It is an easy way to destroy parts and the gearbox, but you get faster 1/4 mile ET's.

NLS is not the same as power shifting.

The PCM steps in and cuts fuel for a fraction of a second when you hit the clutch pedal, so that you dont have to lift off the throttle. If done properly, it is just like shifting normally.. except really fast.

You're still doing the same motion as powershifting or speedshifting. You're not letting up on the throttle and just stabbing the clutch while shifting in a rapid motion. Something's gotta give eventually. Just because it is a feature of the car does not mean you won't void the warranty.

Just ask the Nissan GT-R folks about shutting off the electronic assists or even driving the car to a race track.

the cobalt SS/TC plays with the fueling and spark to keep up backpressure and load on the motor, while holding it at a certain RPM while you shift without leeting up on the gas and holding boost as well. If you shift fast enough, you will get a nice "pop" from the exhaust. It is controlled by the computer, and you have to shift very quickly. the problem these guys are running into is that they are slamming that stick with all of their might and things start to give when you do that.

ls1fbody: I read that you had to do the shift within 1 second or else it reverts to a normal PCM mode, which is probably why they're slamming the stick. When I tried the no-lift shift a few times, it just seemed to involve the same motions as powershifting. The fuel/spark stuff is just icing on the cake, but powershifting/speed shifting has historically reduce 1/4 ETs on every car with a manual gearbox. Think low 13's for a stock 2005 Mustang GT TR-3650 vs high 13s using normal shifting.
