Automatic Cobalts...Shift Kit?
Who all would be interested in trying to get a shift kit created for the automatic cobalt? I'm going to email a company tomorrow seeing if they could possibly create such a kit for the cobalt.
The main question is...Who all would be interested?

The shift points in our transmissions are controlled electronically by the TCM in conjunction with the ECM (they talk to each other.) You don't need a shift kit. Just reprogram the computers.
I had mine done by Wester's garage, and I love it.
It downshifts quicker, with lighter applications of throttle. It up-shifts at a slightly higher RPM. The shifts are firmer and crisper now. It feels like a completely different car.

And yes, the TCM controls all of this in our cars. HPTuners is good enough (if you have a 2.4L Cobalt with the auto tranny) to change the shift pressure, torque management, torque reduction, shift speeds, shift rpm points, downshifts, and more. We tuned the TCM in my car and knocked half a second (at least) off my 1/4 times and added 2mph in the trap. If you have a 2.4L auto, you're better off tuning it through HPTuners. 2.2L owners would probably be better off waiting for HPTuners to release support for them. Does anyone know if they are planning on supporting you 2.2L guys?

1) Buy a tune from Westers or Vector or other similar vendor. They probably tune for the TCM... but you could ask to make sure.
2) Find someone with HPTuners to tune your car. Unless they have the model year unlocked already, this will cost you $100 for the credits. Add fees on top of that for whatever the person wants to charge you for tuning.
3) Buy HPTuners and attempt to do it yourself. Not recommended unless you really know what you're doing... or if you have help. HPTuners is expensive though. You can get the basic package for $499 (which includes the software, link, and 8 credits for unlocking your car and more). You can also get the pro version for $649. Comes with the same as the normal package, except you have extra logging capabilities. Each car (for us) costs 2 credits to unlock. So you'll have 6 credits to use for whatever. HPTuners.com has more info on credits and stuff.

DAmnit, I was still stuck in my grand prix days. All you had to do was drop the pan cover, swap in 2 springs and your done.
Anyways lets get on the ball Hptuners! We need freaking support....
