It is possible. maven made a how to or at least a thread on it. Its around here somewhere. Also , yes, you change the tire you need a recalibration or it will be a little (or a lot) off.

No you wont need to recalibrate your ECU for the new rims so long as the rotations per mile of the tire is the same. So as long as you pick the right sized tire you will be fine.

But why? You say you want more options for rims....You do know that your running a 4x100 pattern right now which is one of if not the most common 4bolt pattern, just about every honda has the 4x100 pattern. The 5lug guys still have options for rims but their selection is much smaller than us.

and the stock from tire rack on a 06 Ls is 195 60 15, and my stockers were 215 45 18 i believe...
from a tire size calculator I got
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/60-15 -- 4.6in --12.1in -- 24.2in -- 76.1in -- 833 -- 0.0%
215/45-18 -- 3.8in --12.8in -- 25.6in -- 80.5in -- 787 -- 5.8%
215/40-18 -- 3.4in -- 12.4in -- 24.8in -- 77.8in -- 814 -- 2.3%
225/45-18 -- 4.0in -- 13.0in -- 26.0in -- 81.6in -- 777 -- 7.3%
225/40-18 -- 3.5in -- 12.5in -- 25.1in -- 78.8in -- 804 -- 3.6%
what you want to look at is the difference %, I don't know what size 18 would be closest to stock LS tire size, but no matter what you're most likely gonna be off a little. Some people don't care, but if you are ocd like me and want your stuff to be right you need to get recalibrated.
I highlighted the two stock size comparisons (as long as i remembered the stock size right) at 60mph you'd be going 63.48. Something like that. To each his own.

If that's your goal, you're going about it allllllll wrong. You'd be cutting your wheel selection down by about 90%.

Its not hard, its just a matter of swapping hubs, vbut it can get expensive REAL quick if you buy all new parts.

I have the first and only 5lug swapped Cobalt, and its my opinion that the only reason you should do it is to take advantage of the better brake selection for the 5 lug cars, not for the wheels, unless you have some cool 5x110 wheels already.

The brake selection, although there is less for the 4lug cobalts if you wanted to make something up yourself you could get a rear arm from an SS and swapping the hubs out so you still have 4lugs with a disc brake. Then it would just be finding the right size brake rotor and you would be set.
