clutch help

alright so i just found out i need a new clutch. i also know there are a bunch of threads about clutches and a search button, but i dont have time and i need info. i am wondering how much you guys have spent to get a clutch put in, whether it be aftermarket or an oem clutch, and roughly how long you were out your car to do so. i am also taking recommendations on them, tell me what you think or would suggest, please also list any extras i would need to put in aftermarket clutch. i would have had an oem put in under warranty but i was just over factory limit for warranty on stock clutch. i was only over by 1500 miles. i will be back on later to reply to any remarks and comments. reps to all who can help me out on this. lol. but thanks in advance.

Not sure what the choices are for the 2.4...for a stock replacement done at the dealer I paid $1000 even...that was for a new clutch, pressure plate, and them to resurface the flywheel.

lol yea its slowly going out. my pedal got real weird and i took it to the dealer right away, and they told me clutch is going out. so i need info on it. i couldnt believe it went out like it did. it only has 22000 miles on it, which is 2000 over factory coverage on the clutch. i dont ride or slip it, i mean i know how to drive manual lol out of 5 or so cars i had that were manual i never had a clutch go this fast.

Exclamation ??????????????????????

i have a 07 ls balt and i'm having issues with the dealer now about my clutch being at 1mm before hitting the rivets in the pressure plate. they were originally warranting my trany for the syncronizer for 3rd gear but found that my clutch was getting bad. i told them dude my car has 14,500 miles on it won't u warranty me for that, they said no, so i called the cust. serv. and they just said the same thing. what should i do? i really think that they are screwing me do to the fact that my clutch should last way longer than that. does anyone have GM'S # to the main office? i really would like to pursue them paying for this. thanx

clutches are a wear item, just like brakes, they are not covered by warrenty. both of those things are too dependent on driving habbits.

i know book time opn a clutch for a 2.0l is right around 8 hours. depending on shop labor, what they charge in shop supplies, ect. should be under $1000 if you supply your own clutch and flywheel.

Post bad pressure plate

tell u whatif u had a clutch go bad pre-maturely, then if u still have the pressure plate check it with a straight edge. i did and found my pressure plate to be bad, it was warped now i'm kicking the dealerships ass for lying to me and not catching that default part. well i think that most likely all 07 chevy cobalt ls 2.2l pressure plates are probably defective and we need to have the recalled imediately!!!!!!! so if u had this problem and still have the pressure plate stand up and kick some asssssssss.....

on my 06 ss\sc i had 6 clutches put in it the last two i never beat on it once and everyone of them had a warped i mean a completely warped pressure plate. They never fixed the problem so i sold the car. One time they didnt even get it out of the lot before it blew. It's BS

and it was covered under warrenty and this was with 2500 miles on it

i've got about 4,000 miles on my clutch... At first it slipped alot but after shifting at higher RPM's its sweet. I race it every now and then but when i shift.. its between 3-4,000 rpm.. I thought my clutch sucked ass and it kinda does but only when pulling out or shifting at low rpms... I thought i'd get use to it now but its really inconsistent at low end... but when im really on it it shifts great and it grabs good... i was looking at getting a Spec stage 2 plus w/ a fidanza flywheel before a stage 3 but idk... I think im gonna go and get a stage 3 because i found out the Getrag F35 in cobalt ss/sc's are rated at 285 ft/lbs of torque...

I called the gm techline and they told me we havent heard of any problem with the clutches. I said dude they have put in 6 clutches and weather you beat on it or not it takes a **** after a thousand miles, and it's not the way i drive it, the damntech didnt even get it out of the lot without it blowin their should be a recall. Oh well
