Clutch recommendations?

Hey guys,
well i have a fidenza flywheel here, but not sure what kind of clutch to go for. My purpose it to run at the track, with dot hoosier slicks (yes, have ds axles). Was thinking about the CM Fx400, but saw a lenghtly post about it not being very good (problems with it).

As that been fixed? Who's running what clutch (daily driven and 1/4mile runs) with no problems??

thanks!
Nate

I have the FX300, and am the one who started that huge post. After all was said and done ClutchMasters worked out the kinks with the pressure plate. I love my final revision I received in the end. It works great and has a nice firm but not menacing pedal pressure.
If you didn't already have the flywheel I would have suggested the Exedy kit though. Stay clear of Spec as a lot of people are having issues with their clutches. TAG racecraft is also working with BullyDog clutch to have a badass setup made. PM them for info. Goodluck.

In all honesty, neither the Spec nor Clutchmasters have been working well. There's been problems with both. The only proven clutch is the Exedy stage 3, as that's what GM uses in the time attack cobalt. However, exedy recommends the flywheel that comes with it, so maybe you could sell the fidenza and buy the Exedy stage 3 cluth/flywheel?

Personally I would say SPEC from all the customer reviews we receive. Also, make sure it is the SPEC stage 2+ or Stage 3+ they are the best available clutch IMO.

you bought a flywheel before you bought a clutch?????

I just ordered my exedy a week ago and cant wait to get it in.

Cobalt Performance Parts gave me a great deal as well as GREAT and FAST customer service on my order.

Exedy @ CobaltPerformanceParts.com FTW!!!!

Did anyone mention the daily drivability of the Exedy?

How many stages does Exedy have?

pedal weight isnt much more, so you don't need to be superman..... it holds 450 lbs tq. sufficient for 98% of the crowd here. exedy has a stage1, which isnt suitable for a modded SC. a stage 3 which holds 450 LBS TQ, and a multi disk clutch that holds 800+ lbs TQ.
nobody that has one has posted here that i can find. its the one ppl want, "when they can afford it". i guess ill be the guinee pig, but i prolly wont put it in til after i teach the kid to drive.

Thanks for the info man. So it sounds like stage 3 is what most people should go with.

I'm stuck between the bully clutch and the Exedy.

I know the Exedy is better it's just a money thing. The Exedy is probably worth saving for.

seems the exedy flywheel is 3 or 4 lbs heavier than the fidenza, but is the surface harder? i know nothing of the Fidenza other than someon posted its 8 lbs.
the info i got was from a rep that works sales for exedy. id say its credible and correct.
now the next question, do i spring for the quaife LSD while its all apart......?

the exedy really isnt any more than other clutches. it INCLUDES the flywheel so why bother with a SPEC that everyone complains about. Exedy is proven to be the ****!
