extremely disapointed in the hurst shifter
hey guys i had the hurst for about 10k miles before it went to crap. it was spinning complete circles on me. i put my stock shifter back on and now I am happy again. Just wondering how many people have gotten their shifters and have actually been completely satisfied. It never made the shifts much shorter.... but the ball made it very comfortable. if not satisfied...why not, i wish i would have saved my 160 buck

my car came with the hurst shifter. i like it, works good. i drove an ion redline the other day and felt the difference. however i also discovered why not to cut the reverse lockout off the base of the shifter (previous owner did on my car). i thought all cobalts were like mine were you gotta get used to 5th gear as the shifter just kinda goes farther over than it should, but discovered thats the lack of lockout doing that.

ya,i have had one for a year now,,,, i was pi++ed that i spent 160 on it, and it didnt shorten throws at all!!, that was an instant turnoff, and that the fact that SPITZER, a chevy dealership,, scratched it with a screwdriver or something upon installation, even sucked worse ,It does give your interior a more expensive lok to it,,,IMO...as far as performance, little bit smoother shifts., i think it has a "heavier" feel to it,, and after a few thousand miles it started to get all loose on me and stuff,., u can hold it in place and twist the entire shifter left to right about an 8th of a turn or so,all in all STOCK > HURST
i would definately try out the B&M and im kinda upset i didnt go with the B&M , i had one in my civic and it shortened my throws so much, it was unreal!!, and it NEVER went loose on me.great shifter,

I think they are a piece of crap. I had one in and the shitty little set screw stripped out. I had to go to home depot and get a new one. That solved the sloppy feeling. And then there is the fact the shifter has to be adjusted so it doesn't over shoot to the right for 5th gear, and you have to sand down the reverse lockout somewhat so it works nice. Well now 3rd gear is slightly out of alignment. The shifter is **** and not engineered properly for the car. I took it out after a month and cut the stocker down. I had a globe x knob for it but sold the car before I had time to install it. Save your money and cut the stocker down. I did it a bit extreem and totaly removed the reverse lockout.

I have the B&M, it is 1000000000000 times better than my stock shifter. I really dont think the throws were all that much shorter but the shifter is so much smoother, and the top doesnt fly off and hit people in the head when I do a 1-2 or 3-4. No problems installing it either, and the reverse lockout works just fine, no trimming or anything. B&M FTW!!!

I have a hurst, have had it for over a year and I have had no problems with it getting loose or out of alignment... Just gotta make sure that the stupid screw gets in there good with the loctite... (yeah its a stupid screw, even though its working for me)
Guess I was the lucky one or something
*knocks on wood anyways*

I have a B&M short throw and i love the way it looks and love the way it feels. I can throw shifts much faster and think that you might have been more satisfied with this one rather than Hurst

I love my hurst, it feels real tight and have maybe 15k on it. 2 autoxs and 20 or so drag passes with it. installation is key. reverse lockout works perfect and 5th is easy to find.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that B&M bought hurst, then came out with a shitty Hurst shifter, and by comparison everyone loves the original B&M shifter?
Although I admit, the B&M is the best shifter for our cars I've seen or used.
