What Final Drive ratios do you guys have as stock, and available from other models?

The best for accel we can find in the UK is a 4.17... which yeah its great but was wondering what else is out there in the wide world

or failing that just simply where can a 4.17 pr be purchased from new in the US (mail order) as I'm very confident it will be cheaper than a 2nd hand set here.

wait wait... I was under the impression that the SS/SC's stock ratio is 4.05:1...

"The Ecotec 2.0L SC is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The 240-millimeter clutch assembly is larger on the 2.0-liter supercharged I-4 than the other naturally aspirated Ecotecs. The five-speed has close-ratio gearing that is tailored to the power band of the 2.0-liter engine. To improve acceleration the final drive ratio is also shorter at 4.05:1. A short-throw shifter quickens the shifts and provides a more positive feel as well. Equal length transmission half shafts are also utilized to address torque steer in this front-drive car."

the new SS/TC ratio is 3.82:1.

the f23 is not the ss/sc. the ss/sc is the f35

I didn't know we had the option of swapping around Final Drives?

I Don't know much about them in our cars besides the little I lerned Swapping in a 4.10 in my 87 Monte SS??

I believe the SS/SC race cars use a final drive out of a Grand Am.

ss/sc is 4.05:1, end of discussion.

Now swapping out the final drives, don't know. Anyone done it?

The cobalt F23 M86 transaxle has a 3.84 final drive. The Saturn Vue F23 MG3 transaxle has a 4.41 final drive. The only other difference between the two is 5th gear. The Vue has a .81 where the Cobalt has a .69. The internals are completely interchangable from what I have been told however the cases have different mount locations.

was actualy looking to do a 4.41 fdr swap in a friends nitrous fed cavalier drag car. basicly all you needed was the ring gear and countershaft (it has the final drive "drive" gear atatched to it)

Wouldnt think a Saturn Vue with a manual transmission would be all that common but they did make them.

a while back I was thinking about using the lower gear from the Saturn Vue, found trannies on ebay cheap. just look up trannies on ebay, it's the F23 from the vue

Not exactly, Slindborg and I are driving Opel Speedster / Vauxhall VX220.
Basically a Lotus Elise chassis with a L61 2.2 Ecotec engine
