Did it require special gaskets or tools to install the lsd or was it pretty straight forward?

Don't worry about the lsd man, the thing is posi all the time in a straight line. Never turned my car hard to figure out the other part.

I hear ya, the balt will be strictly street driven, just don't wanna regret it later on down the road I guess.

Without LSD at the track with stickies you should be fine with the exception of a one wheel peel once in a while. It benefits more on the street or anywhere with less avail traction. Still, it is undeniable that an LSD will benefit strait line traction.

And yes the f40 is stupid easy to work on. Only tools needed are for diff bearings. You will want to measure the diff play side to side and shim it so it has the same or slightly less play depending on mileage and wesr.
If you change any other bearings, same procedure.

LNFwagonSS, Ryan D. Matt M and myself did not run a lsd and it was perfectly fine. Not saying its not better, its just there are other areas to put that money.

No doubt. $1100 diff is a huge pill to swallow.

If I wasn't doing a whole build then I'd consider it.

Hell, you can always add it later if you feel you need to. Could be done in a weekend. Would only take one day to pull trans, install diff, and re-install trans if you didn't have to wait for case sealant to dry.

Just got an email back from ZZP. They are not ready. It was supposed to be put in the site as PRE-ORDER only. But it sounds like things are moving along at least. Send Kyle or Matt an email and let them know you intend to purchase as they plan on having 10 kits available and appearantly, 4 of them are spoken for, including myself.

I saw their listing on their shop site says its back in stock. They really only have 10 for sale?

I am leaning more towards keeping my Sedan as a DD not screwing with it anymore and pricing out an LSJ built engine. (If I ever land on some money) An LSJ Turbo second gen S10 is in blueprints in my head as of right now.

They don't have any ready for sale right now, they are still refining a couple parts. One of which is probably the speed sensor. I'm sure they will produce more kits after they are able to re-coupe some money on the first batch.

Honestly, I don't see how it will ever work correctly on the half shaft. The issue is with calculated milage AFAIK. As in, it will calculate less miles than you have actually driven. Lol I'm OK with that though! Don't quote me on this as it didn't seem Matt was entirely sure of the the exact issues.

I think cruise control not working was also one of the issues.

"We are going to keep producing it. we were making some slight changes, we are done, and now the kit is available.

I cannot take a reservation on the kit. I have several ready to go.

Well the other night they were $1799, noticed no flywheel/clutch included. Then today they're listed with everything for $2000.

I know back when the first ones where hitting the streets the speedo and rpms would work correctly, but the mileage and everything to do with that was off. Never bothered me at all.

I had an f40 with LSD, aluminum flywheel and south bend clutch swapped in with the zfr7163 in July and I can say it is a great combo.

My Speedo reads spot on and cruise works great, but they are still working on a fix for the trip and range. 1 mile only shows up as 3 to 4 tenths on the trip.

I may be an exception because I'm a Redline and don't have the calculated gas mileage or miles to empty on my dash, but I have an original F40 kit and I just used the speedo input data in HPTuners from a stock 2004 Redline as a starting point and made some minor tweaks and it reads speed and miles correctly. Remember, the 2004 Redlines had an external tone ring on the intermediate shaft that the VSS read. When I first took it out it read speed and miles way off, so I started with the 04 settings in HPT and they were very close.
