okay, so i managed to get the stock knob off, got my hurst installed. i'm fine as far as adjusting it and whatnot. my problem is that it spins. the whole unit spins in it's base. not the knob, the entire shaft. as far as i can tell, everything is installed correctly. and the only parts i take off the stock shaft are the pivot ball holder and the snap piece that connects at the bottom of the shaft to the shift cable, correct?

i actually just installed the shifter backwards and it seems to help... but the shifter is backwards. could still use some help or suggestions on this. maybe i'll keep it the way it is for now, and contact hurst and see if they can send a larger screw or something.

just making sure, the screw is supposed to go against the flattened part of the shaft, correct? with the shifter leaning backwards? i have it leaning towards the front of the car... but it doesn't spin at all...

Tighten down the set screw. I ended up having to Loctite it a few times too. Make sure you didn't get any of the lube stuff in the hole for the set screw.

I have this problem. I've had the thing installed 3 times now. The last time we drilled out a little bit of the shaft to accept the set screw better, and also used loc-tite on it, and it still came loose after a couple months. I'm about to go back to the stock shifter because of it.

I had this problem with that stupid set screw, what ever you do dont over tighten it, mine broke, so what i did was re drill it and use a large screw then cut the head of the screw, sanded it down, works good now, but only thing is i wont be able to get that screw out without re drilling it.

i can't get the set screw to get up against the flat part of the shaft. it just will not get tight enough. tight enough to where it will be difficult to swing the shaft 360 degrees, but not near tight enough to hold the shaft tight like it should. it's tight right now, but thats only because it's backwards, and i do not want this to be a permanent solution. i'm going to have to call hurst about it to see if they have a solution. if they don't, i'm going to look into the tmw, as the current state is not acceptable. just don't really want to drop another $200 into another shifter right now.

my problem's been fixed. just had to tap out the threads in the pivot ball. i also got a new set screw that doesn't strip as easily as the one that came with the shifter. should have the shifter installed no later than wednesday. woot! lol.
