Yeah, I agree with some on here... The Solstice / Sky from what I can remember are NOT on the same platform family as the Cobalt/Pursuit, so that would still involve some rigging.

with all the $$ you'd be spending on this... wouldn't it have been cheaper to find a used Pro-stock Cobalt like they're using in the NHRA and have you way with it??? Unless that it, you are looking for a street-legal car.
Not trying to be a smart-**** with that comment, just curious why it's so important to use the cobalt as a starting point for a RWD car.

At that point, you might as well back-half the car, install a roll cage and go nuts with it.
Drop a 572 in it and see if you can rip the paint off it down the strip...

Like I said... not criticising your inquiry, just asking.

I think that making the delata platform rwd is possible with a lot of custmomization and I think that You should build your own frame instead of modifying this one,I dont think this frame can handle a lot of power without extensive modification.

i am still curious as to how you are going to be running the drive shaft to a rear axle, are you going to have the new engine, whatever it may be, lowered so you can run it? obviously there is some remounting for the engine anyways

ya kno.... it has been on my mind.. black aveo hatch (or whatever they call it) wit black rims and polished lip with tints so i dont look like crap driving the car. build the motor and turbo it. talk about a sleeper. people will think u just made the car look nice but its an aveo so it cant be fast. ... yea u can tell that thought has passed thru my mind one too many times.. too bad i cant afford a new pulley at this point in time

The solstice is a kappa platform...it borrows from several different platforms and they didn't know what to name it so they called it the kappa.

It is pretty much the same thing except they used a colorado transmission instead of ours. The tread width is about an inch shorter than ours and the wheelbase is about 8 inches longer, but I don't see why you couldn't have something fabbed up to fit the shorter wheelbase.

Crazy ass girl.

I like the thought process involved in that one though...little car + massive engine = fun

It's a simple formula really.

Yea, the closest thing i can think of is a Solstice, but you'll pay ot the ass just for the rear end, not to mention all the custom fabbing that will need to be done. And the new tranny will have to be a RWD tranny that will bolt up to the engine your going to use.

mallet builds the v8 solstices. and the world Al hardcore 454 costs 11k. the RWD kit from kugel komponents for the focus is 15k. so figure 26k minus the cost of the cobalt youre tearing apart and a transmission that will handle a 600hp small block. were only rebuilding a 67 nova and between parts and labor its going to be 30k and we will have done nowhere near the extensive body work you would have to do to get this done. so unless you just like burning money forget it.

thats only an ls2. and i forgot to add thats also without air conditioning. only 100 will be made and i bet theyre sold already. using the ls7 instead will cost 47,000. or you can get a 600hp supercharged ls2 for 52k. http://www.mallettcars.com/solstice-conversion.htm

Sleeper how? Can't make a big ass V-8 sound like a overly muffled ecotec. Biggest mistake people make wiht sleepers is that they are VERY unassuming. Meaning it doesn't idle like ass in a good way. It sounds like i'ts being everfuled, smells liek its' being overfuled and it'd help if you coudl somehow get that oil burnign smeel into the exhaust too. The paint should look crappy too. THe best sleepers honestly are big ass boats with even bigger motors. Take a Merc grand marquis and slapp the SVT stang motor in it. Sure the blower is a little giveaway but at stock it isnt' that noticable. Pure sleeper there if you run lots of muffler.

As far as thsi cobalt RWD idea goes I'd say don't, after all teh fab work is done your looking at the money to buy a vette, even after a kit is made. Or even better a Saturn SKy (which looks a ton beter than the soltice IMO ) with a LS7.

The only way to convert the CSS to a RWD car is get the 2.0 turbo out of the GXP/SKY RL. There are no AWD or RWD Delta ECOTECs.

It will require a lot more fabrication than what its worth, upgrade all your mounts, torque braces, etc and stick with FWD...

Much less, I'm not sure if the engine would fit properly in the engine bay...if you do that, just go big or something of get a stripped down Solstice and do the LS7 swap like GMPP did and be faster than a Porsche Carrera GT and other supercars.

[QUOTE=CivicKiller98],
the 4T65-E(M76) might work

...thats a FWD trans

Also the 4T65-E would be destroyed if you tried putting any LS motor lol.... hell even the LT1 would destroy it.
