Although you checked the cables, it still could be that the linkage is slipping at the plastic tabs. How long ago did you put the STS in?

yep OP has the exact symptoms. Might call the dealer and tell them what it is to speed up the process.

That is horse ****. next time you take it in, remove all panels inside the car.

Watch them freak the hell out.

chances are you blew up the shifter fork, these are not made and sitting in stock, they are made to order i believe, it took three weeks for mine to come in and get fixed, and they will prompt you to replace your clutch while there int here, at your expense obviously.

Unless you have have a new clutch in there, or are planing on putting a upgraded clutch in, this would be the time to replace it, the trans is already out of the car, all you pay for now is just the clutch parts, no labor, saves you about 200$ in the long run. Im just saying its obvious that they would also like to do it now so they dont have to pull the trans out again in another 50k miles.

lol this happened to me before while i was driving home i made it home and all i had was 1st and 3rd and the next morning i didnt have anything and like you said you could move the shifter in a cricle... The part that is broken is your roll pin for sure wanna know why... cuz its made of freakin plastic and apparently is a constant problem with those trannys... so the service writer and tech definately know what it is cuz like u said how can u fix something if you dont know whats wrong with it.
