Keeping everyone in the loop

Well last month on the 26th i was out with my car tooling around with it and third gear decided it was time to go. So we tore everything out of the car leaving it a shell and i have some pics of the damage.

Both stage 2 axles where damaged as well the fluid in the cv boot leaked into the trans, as well as the splines started to grind and shear of metal to.

On the lighter side here is the motor

The killer chiller came a day after the trans went

Should be two weeks and everything should be together, the trans will be cryo'd, intake manifold on, and killer chiller on.

Looks yummy!!

Sucks though, but a nice cryo'd tranny will be a good upgrade for you.

wannabe, i heard the tranny is a PITA to get apart, something about needing some kind of press or something? A GM tech told me they dont even repair the ss/sc trannys, they just get remans and swap them out...

Hell, while you're in there throw that Quaife 6speed in it and THEN cryo it!!! Do it right the first time!!! LULZ

Not really me and josh got the motor and trans out in about 4 hrs and it only took 30 mins to take the trans apart to there.

One of my stage 2 axles had that happen to it too. Same thing!

I noticed it when I pulled the tranmission to do the clutch a couple months ago. That little stub shaft stayed in the transmission and cv grease had made its way into the transmission. They warrantied the shaft, no questions asked.

But ****! Why are they doing this? I only ran mine for a month before I found it like that.

So are you upgrading the transmission at all? If it's possible keep me in the loop because I have a feeling this will be happening to me soon

Trans is just getting cryo'd i looked at it hard and long and can't justify a f40 or quaife swap at this point.

Hopefully if everything goes right my dealer will cover all the trans parts to.

Got friends at the dealer do ya?

So to get the trans parts cryo'd, do you have to take the gears off the shaft? Are you getting every single metal part done? I need to start looking into this too so I can get it done over winter.

We are getting everything cryoed even the case. I will be disasembling it all and yes you need some special tools and a press.

Well if you dont have a puller with very thin teeth you won't be getting 5th gear off. It's one of those either buy the right tool or make your own situation, otherwise you will chip teeth.

I surely don't want to chip any teeth. I have a hookup with a gm dealer here but I've never asked them if they have the tools. I doubt they do though.
