lookint to replace my clutch

So after i went 2.8 and 60s i am in dire need of a new clutch. Which one would suit my needs best, dont have a ton of money so easy on the wallet. I will be going water/meth injection soon if that makes a difference.

Well i started looking around and here are some that i thiink would work, which one would you recommend. And do these kits come with fly wheels? Do i need a new fly wheel? If i do and the kits dont come with them which one should i go with?

if your going with a spec clutch, only use a stage 2+ or 3+, the non + series are garbage. none of the spec clutches come with flywheels. i havent heard anything about the zzp clutches.

exedy hypersingle
spec 2+ or 3+

those are about the only 2 makers that people can agree are the best. a lot of people dont like clutchmaster, there have been a lot of issues. not enough people are running the centerforce df or dfx and you never hear any comments good or bad, but it looks like a good clutch. i had a bulley in my old car and loved it, and im highly considering one for my cobalt.

What about us LS guys? Mods are in my sig. and my clutch is bout paper thin. What setup should I go with and also how much is it going to cost me to get it done.. I think that installing it myself is a little over my head.

Thanks guys

If you need a clutch because it is worn out then you will need to either resurface your flywheel or buy a new one.

i got a spec stage 2+ clutch and spec flywheel not too long ago and i'm very happy with this setup. if u buy a spec clutch make sure that you stick with the + series, sometimes people hav problems with the regular ones. also TTR price matched all of the competitors for me so that was nice

I still don't understand how you people with pretty much brand new cars are in need of a new clutch already.

With that said, I have heard nothing but great things about Exedy clutches. If and when I need to replace mine, I will be going with an Exedy unit.

Well this was my first standard to ever own. Only drove my gf's dad's chevy truck that was a stick before that so when I first had the car it wasnt pretty. Also lots and lots of miles of delivery driving around town and a few long distance trips where we got stuck in gridlock traffic for a LONG time. Atlanta Georgia FTL.

Thats why i need a new one. Its not gone yet.. I just know that before the year is up I will most likely need to be looking into this.

So how much was it to get a shop to replace it? anyone have someone else do it?

Exactly, just PM us the links, if you find it cheaper, we will do our best to price match (if that other place is a direct dealer to SPEC)

I have heard of dealerships looking for about $800 and I went to a small shop near me that I do buisness with and they charged me $500 cash or $600 with any other payment method.

is not that bad if you have a weekend you could do it yourself. it not like it is a 4x4 truck the cobalt and cavs sub frame it light. i remove the lower strut bolts and swaybar endlink bolt on the strut mark the steering shaft and drop the sub. i dont do the tie rod / ball joint thing that gan be a pain in the ass. and the tranny is light

oh and if you spent 500 bucks on tools you could have the tools to do it over and over again. hell even make money doing it for other people.
